Bailey reaches AAA?
There's an apocryphal report over at the CSTV site that says Andrew Bailey has been promoted to AAA and will start for the Sacramento Rivercats tonight (Monday).

He's listed on the AAA roster at milb.com, at least. Komine was originally the starter for tonight.
Given how easy it is, physically, to get Stockton players to Sacramento, this wouldn't be a surprise. Give the kid a chance to show what he can do -- especially with Sacramento having clinched its division -- and set him up for a possible AA assignment next spring?
I haven't followed Bailey closely all year; I just know the stats and his background. Would be curious to hear what others think about his place in the organization next year.

Pretty awesome numbers this year.
Maybe they'll skip him a league for good.

They did the same thing last night, Bradley Davis
came up from Stockton
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Pitcher Bradley Davis picked a perfect time to have one of the best outings of his summer.
Davis started Sunday for the River Cats and held Tucson scoreless for seven innings, allowing just six hits in the River Cats' 7-0 win at Tucson Electric Park.
Just Saturday, he was playing for Class-A Stockton.
He comes up and pitches a heck of a game for us," said River Cats manager Tony DeFrancesco. "He did a great job. We needed that. We're trying to rest our (pitchers) for Wednesday."

He reached AAA right away,
but an hour later he's still waiting for the tow truck to arrive.

I think they were eliminated yesterday
after a spirited run toward contention down the stretch.
Cahill is obviously going to start next year in at least high A, if not AA, ball. But even with the best performance, I don't think he can be expected to make more than a token appearance for the big club next season, probably not even that.

it gets even better
Bailey was perfect through 4.2 IP and had a no-hitter through 6.2 IP. Nice debut.

Awesome news at an ideal time, ...
considering we don't have much else for excitement.
Hopefully he can split 08 between Midland & Sacto with decreased fly outs in the launching pad circuit known as the PCL. One dominating cup of coffee, great job ANdrew!

Kevin Goldstein on Bailey in BP this Tuesday
In his weekly "Ten-Pack" (sorry, behind the subscriber wall), one of his chosen 10 this week was Andrew Bailey:
The RiverCats clinched their sixth division title in the last eight years on Friday night, so for the final regular season game of the year, they decided to rest the staff for the upcoming playoffs and bring up Bailey from High-A Stockton for the finale. Last year’s sixth-round pick proved to be more than up for the task, taking a perfect game into the fifth and a no-hitter into the seventh, finishing the night with eight innings of three-hit ball, and perhaps surprisingly only his fifth win of the year. It doesn’t take any advanced understanding of statistical analysis to realize that wins tell you little, but you’d still expect Bailey to have notched a few more, as he was one of the best pitchers in the Oakland organization this year, and arguably their breakout player of the year. Splitting his other 22 games between the club’s two A-ball affiliates, Bailey finished the year by leading the organization with 150 strikeouts in just 125 innings, while giving up just 101 hits. Bailey’s got a classic power-pitcher build, and while none of his offerings are dominant, he does have three solid offerings, with a low-90s fastball, solid curve, and a rapidly improving changeup. He’ll likely start the 2008 season at Double-A, and is one of the better starting prospects in the system.
