Open Game Thread: Game 113 - A's at Texas (cont.)
A's are leading Texas 7-3 thanks to Scutaro and Braden. Dallas has pitched well in Texas. Will Huston make an appearance as well? And who shot J.R.?
LET'S GO A'S!!!!!!

swinging early in the count?
sometimes the offense seems to think their job is done if they put up a 6 spot in the 1st inning.

Giants game underway
Chances are good that the Nationals will be forever linked to the historic moment when Bonds goes yard for the 756th time - as it's a 4-game series
On an aside, I miss the Expos

22-yr old John Lannan is on the hill for Washington

Who did shoot J.R.?
I love this game tonight. I just wish we could have scratched out a win yesterday so that we were only 10 games out rather than 12. BOOO!

From Mccovey's Chronicles
The Conspiracy Continues
November 22, 1963, JFK shot in Dallas. If you reexamine the numbers for that date - 11, 22 and 1963 - you get an suspicious connection to Barry Bonds.
Month-November: 1 + 1 = 2.
Day-22: 2 + 2 = 4.
Year-1963: 1 + 9 + 6 + 3 = 19
Add 2 + 4 + 19 = 25 BARRY BONDS'S NUMBER!
Coincidence? I Think...NOT!
They have a point...
Can anyone verify his whereabouts on the 22nd November 1963? And don't give me that 'twinkle in his father's eye' nonsense!
His mother's leg?
Okay, that was wrong of me.
No kidding, I was actually googling this.
Too funny.

Not kidding.
Well for Gawd's sake.
I will invite you to meet my daughter and hangout if you move here. Her birthday is 5/16/84. And she's my YOUNGEST girl. We refer to her as THE BABY.
I don't wear diapers!
You sure?
JK but seriously you seem a very mature poster. I would not have guessed that you were the baby's age. I thought you were probably about 28....the same as my oldest girl. And no...you may not room with Oh2.

Who divorces Nicole Kidman?
With two adopted sons?
Tom walked away to bang his clueless new booty why Nicole still has to raise two boys without a father.
A man doesn't walk away from his sons like that. Jesus, married to Nicole Kidman you keep it freaking together in this life, but Tom was too arrogant. Nothing's ever good enough for some people.
Hell who knows
I just have a great deal of trouble respecting a man who walks away from his sons. Nicole has to raise them herself while Tom whistles along with a new trophy.
I just don't like it. I know better than to judge, but Nicole Kidman!

This will reveal what a music geek I am
but what I remember most about Knots Landing is what beautiful tone the trumpet has on the high note at the end of the opening theme one year. Better than Doc Severinsen, who is among the best.
I don't recall which season it was. Somewhere toward the middle of the run, I think. They kept the tune the same throughout, but they reorchestrated it several times.
Good thing she didn't go with her second choice

The game is a little dull tonight.
The Angels are such a better enemy. They make every game exciting.
Isn't Ruddy suppose to suck?
Cause he didn't suck to bad at all. In fact, I would dare say he didn't suck at all.
He' s been nails in AAA.
I hope that this is the real Ruddy.
With Sacramento
According to thebaseballcube.com he had a .45 ERA in 20 innings of work with 22 so and 7 bb, surrendering 5 hits.
very nice.

Give a player a multi-year contract

Cut him some slack...
It's freakin' hot, and he thought he could go home an hour ago. Now, he has to stand around and get even more sweaty because both teams are unimpressive.
Maybe it's just an English thing, but I've never
understood arguing the call to the point of getting thrown out. The Ump NEVER reverses it. You just look like a muppet.
You have to protect your players and it might
get you a call later in the game. It's actually a brilliant move even though I understand your thinking.

Are you kidding??
Wash is tired of watching this crap too. He just wants to go in the clubhouse and eat some grub and get a shower. Why should Young have it all to himself?
Not to mention that Young is in there too
and it will build team morale. They had some rough patches at the beginning of the year and this will help their relationship a great deal.

Though in California we are a lot more reasonable.
by One won lost won on Aug 6, 2007 9:24 PM PDT up reply actions
That's easy.
The American way is to win now, win at all costs, win no matter what. How you win is a secondary consideration. We don't like to admit it, but we all snicker when a guy gets over and wins with a little trickery. It's why guys like Gaylord Perry and Barry Bonds fascinate us. And why we like a guy who screams his head off for no good reason other than a slight perceived advantage. It's like being a sled dog, if you ain't the lead dog, the view never changes.
Ya knoooow
I was really hoping to watch "A Player to be Named Later" that arrived in the mail this afternoon - especially after the Scooter Grand Slam
But noooooo, the A's had to blow a 7-0 lead and carry it into extras
Now it's late and I'm annoyed ;(
Stick around for a while and you
will be furious.
You should watch it
no matter how late it is or how frustrating this team is. Great movie.
