Gaudin was very unimpressive again last night. His pitch location was off and has been for past 5 starts or so. The pitch to Vlad the Impaler that allowed the 3-run HR was ridiculous. A straight fastball right down the middle to one of the most feared hitters in all of baseball...what were they thinking! In that situation, why didn't Gaudin just walk him and take his chances with Anderson.
The A's were awful once again with runners in scoring position last night, minus a big hit from Swisher. I'm looking forward to the end of this season and the start of the second season (free agency). At least in the offseason we have some reason for hope. I'm just out of hope at this point. I'm a spoiled A's fan and I won't be able to take another season like this.
Why is Loaiza complaining? He's getting paid $7 million a year so he should just shut-up and do what the organization tells him to do. I'm not looking forward to seeing him top out at 84 mph on the radar gun. In his defense there does seem to be some miscommunication between the players and management this year. This is not the first case of confusion, Street apparently has some issues regarding his role.
Why is Chavez not on the DL? He hasn't had any meaningful playing time in the last 20 days. Why won't Beane DL him? The A's should bring-up Furmaniak to give them some options, because right now they are playing with a 24-man roster.
Just a side not. Have you guys noticed how poor the minor league affiliates are playing? There was a time not so long ago when the A's minor league teams won more games then any other MLB system. Take a look at the minor league standings. Minus Sacramento it is pretty pathetic. Sacramento is having a great season. Considering how much player movement they have had and the fact there is not a whole lot of premium talent there is pretty impressive.
