Poetic Interlude #1 I Can Dream Can't I?
Although my colleagues on AN have used such models as Shakespeare and T.S Eliot for their interludes, I am made of baser clay, and so I here present an Interlude based on an old pop song. I would think that you would have to be of a certain age to "hear" the song, but perhaps some of you will recognize it...the others can have their grampas sing it to them....
I can see, no matter what Beane can do
It looks like the season's through.
But I can dream, can't I?
Can't I pretend that at this season's end,
There's a Series win?
For Murphy's playing fine,
And Buck is like fine wine...
I'm aware, my dream is a faint affair,
We need Cust to do his share...
But I can dream, can't I?
Can't I love Ellis,
And Haren has got to win games...
We have to get hotter than flames.....
But...I...can...dream...can't I?
Exit, stage right.
