Open Game Thread: Game 122 - A's vs. White Sox (cont)
Haren throws about 301 pitches to get through the sixth inning, but can't escape without four runs scoring, although he had some (non)help from the defense for a couple of them.
The A's offense; however, is battling, and doing their best impression of being a contender. They have battled all afternoon, and the score reflects it: It's 4-4 going to the bottom of the sixth.

Newthreadmojo!
He was confused by the new thread
Can you imagine if a pitch
that was a foot outside was actually called a strike?
Hmm
According to game day, Strike 3 was in the same place as Ball 3
gameday says that
because it was a foot outside, prick umpire.

is the bullpen that tapped?
that Haren had to pitch the 6th? after 99 pitches?
and what happened to Brown?

Street unavailable, Embree should be
unavailable but he's Embree so who knows. Lugo was up in the 6th at one point but then I think Geren remembered that he sucks.

Too bad--sounds like a great game
As people have been saying, the A's are interesting again!
I had to drive all the way to Watsonville
for a 2 hour meeting. 2 hours there and 2 hours back. On Highway 17 :(
Now that sounds like a town in Missouri.
My high school buddy called me today and said that he lives in Santa Rosa. How far is that from Oakland so I can stay with him next time around?
by ohtobe21likehuston on Aug 16, 2007 3:25 PM PDT up reply actions
My parents live in SR
It's about an hour and a half from the park.
Take the 101 to the Richmond Bridge (580). That turns into the 880, and the Coliseum is exit 66. Or Haggenburger.

Bad strategic managing that inning--
We should have put on the "solo HR" play. Then we'd have the lead.

Did Embree catch a case of the JKs?
Seems one reliever on the club has to suck at any given time. Any attempt to remediate this by DFA or trades just passes it to another.

Yea brothers, there is a place
where the bat doth meet the ball, but softly as the dove caresses the lily.
But then Satan, in the form of the massive B.B came and tempted the chosen with might swings, and the chosen were tested.
Many years have passed, and the meek do not inherit the earth - but they shall my brothers.
Travis sucks.
Fire him.
MacDougal's having control problems.
Again. Anybody who swings before there are 2 strikes is foolish.
EEK!
Cust needs to walk
so Piazza can come up with two out and the bases loaded (and hit a ground rule double, of course).

That was an uneventful inning. We could do with more of those, though not for this game.

Yet Blanton looks strangely annoyed.

I love how Gameday ends the description
by helpfully reminding us that there are 2 outs
And Jim Thome is now stuck in on-deck Limbo for
all eternity.
Not to mention Zooks jacked the FIRST pitch outta the park!
On Deck limbo
Is that like the vortex that Ozzie Smith fell into on the Simpsons?
Also, no players on the field, no fans in the
stands, just the white chalk outline of a little green circle in the left field bleachers where the ball landed. A fitting post-mortem of the walk-off.
wait a minute
Have we won four games in a row now? That can't be right.
Weird...
Winning 4 in a row? Sweeping a series? A catcher hitting a homer to win the game?

i almost dont even wanna watch the freakin game with him annoucning. the first pitch to Dmurphy n the 11th was not a stirke, but he manages to say, "just n the lower part of the knees", then when ZOOK crushes it, he stays f'in silent until it actually leaves the yard...then he says "the A's manage to sweep OUR Sox". the worst part....they somehow give PLAYER OF THE GAME to the most hated athlete i know....A.J.
