Mark Ellis Bobblehead

ANers know I have a long-time and exaggerated sense of the worth and contribution of Mark Ellis.  I'm 43 years old and actually have the Ellis name on an A's jersey - how pathetic is that?

Star-divide

Anyway, I see that the A's have a Mark Ellis bobblehead game on August 28, but I'm going to be out of town that day.

If an ANer picks up an extra one, I'd sure appreciate the opportunity to take it off your hands.

Just let me know, and thanks,

Solotar.

Well, I'm a little younger than you...

but similarly "pathetic".  ;)

We might have an extra -- it depends on whether or not Mr. Poppy gets a job by then, and therefore can't get in line early with me (and, I'm sorry, I kind of have to root for Mr. Poppy getting a job, because, you know... rent 'n' all that...).

If we do get an extra, it's yours.  My email is in my profile, drop me a note and tell me your email so I can let you know the bobble status later.

You can't just give away things to the

internet people. I'd never do such a thing.

Yeah,

you have to get something back in return.

Question about "KID" give-aways

A little off topic, I know, but it falls under the give-away catagory.

Anyway, so there are 2 give-aways coming up listed for "kids." Even though I am a kid at heart, I am sure they will see this very obviously adult woman walk through and they won't give me the give-away. But I had heard somewhere that MLB was suppose to stop designating the give-aways for certain demographics and had to start being an equal opportunity freebe distributor.

So my question is, is it true, do they HAVE to give to adults now as well as kids? Or did I hear that wrong?

If I can't get my hands on the Retro Alarm Clock on Sep. 2nd, is there anyone out there who might not want it and might be able to get their hands on one for me? I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks a bunch!

PS

Ellis is awesome! Don't be ashamed of your love for him! Everyone should love Ellis!

i don't recall MLB saying that

I do remember that there was an issue over a man not being granted a handbag that was for designated for women because of Mother's Day.  He filed a lawsuit and teams no longer discriminated by gender.

Haven't heard anything about age.  I went to the A's vs Angel's game on Sunday when they gave out toy cars and only kids received them.

What was really messed up ...

is that for a while they give father's day ties to both genders but reserved the mother's day giveaway for women ...

What was the Mothers Day giveaway
anyways? And was that man wanting it for himself or for his wife? Hmm.

it was a pink handbag

personally, I thought it was ugly

Not only was it ugly...

but it had thick metal rings for handles.  Ow.

I was wondering the same thing

It may just apply to gender specific giveaways.  Apparently age discrimination is OK.

by jpl on Aug 15, 2007 3:19 PM PDT up reply actions

I wondered the same

I stayed the day after AN Day 4 to go to the Victor E. Van give-away game on Sunday.  I was with my son but wanted to get an extra van for his little brother who could not make the trip.
I remembered a story of some Dude who sued the Angels I think for not getting some give-away item for Mother's Day.

Anyway, I was going to just ask for two vans but figured I would just buy an extra ticket and have my son go through the line twice.

Word of advice for anyone trying to do the same.  You are not allowed to exit from the same gate you entered.  Security told me my son had to exit on the other side of the coliseum to meet back up with me.  I talked a Supervisor into letting him out but pretty crazy.

Another option I considered that may work for you - find a kid who is a fan of the opposing team and buy it off him/her.

Wow, I never noticed his number was 14...
It surprises me because that means not only do I share his last name, but I used his number too throughout my time playing baseball.

kids giveaway

I'm resorting to renting a kid for the giveaway. I'm treating my secretary and her child to the game. The caveat is that he goes around with me twice to get the Street bag.
Will probably do the same for the retro alarm clock.
Sucks, that clock is for kids only.
But it is also nice that they will get to come to the game, soI don't totally mind.

"We get two outs, and I was sure, and I had a plan, and I shook Tek off," Schilling said. "And I get a big 'What if?' for the rest of my life."

Kid give aways...
The MiLB team that I work for is pretty good with giving adults the kid things if like, they have 2 kids but only one with them, or they want one for their grandkid, or if the cutoff age is 12 and the kid is up to like 14. There has only been one night that we were told we could only give to kids 12 and under, one per kid, not per ticket, and I had to put the give away in the kid's hands. No excuses, no exceptions.
If you want results, press the red button. The rest are useless.

They're selling the Victor E. Vans at Chevron...

stations now for $7.99 + tax.

I think I can live w/o one.

You can probably live without the van

but try living w/o Techron and see where that gets you.
