With Monday's demotion of Dallas Braden, the A's have an opening in their rotation for Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Loaiza and recent call-up Dan Meyer are the two candidates to fill the slot, but the A's coaching staff and front office weren't quite ready to make a decision Tuesday.
In fact, manager Bob Geren indicated the team might want Loaiza to make one more rehab start.
"We'll see how he feels (after Tuesday's bullpen session)," Geren said. "Ideally, we'd like him to make one more start (with the River Cats) in Portland, but we'll see how the next few games go."
"It was a huge step to get to play in the big leagues," Buck said. "It's been crazy to think that I started last year in (High A) Stockton and now I'm here. It shows the success you can have if you work hard."
