ANtics Episode 3.19: Reality Bites

Oh the All-Star Break. A great time to relax and bask in the wonder of baseball... most years. But this year, as the A's slumped into the break like an underage wannabe frat boy with a fake ID returning to the dorms after his first bender, the shine has seemingly come off this team. As the team fades in the standings, home fans were treated to a 4-error night by Marco Scutaro, a 2/3 of an inning start by Joe Kennedy, bases loaded double plays and way too much Crosby and Kendall, just in the last week. It's no wonder Joe Blanton wants to pound everything in sight. Don't you?

What I am looking forward to?

Harry Potter. The book and the movie.

Oh, and all that other stuff up there. But there wasn't a "select all that apply" option, so oh well....

There's no crying in baseball!

You have to pick one.

Otherwise, we'd call you "gigglingall".

HARRY POTTER

I'm beyond excited about all the Harry stuff.  Already got me ticket and book paid for.  Re-reading all of the books currently and am on Book 5.  My friend always makes t-shirts for us for the books (and movies).  My last one was "Future Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts" and mine this year is going be "Property of Dumbledore's Army".  I am also looking forward to Melhuse's return and subsequent kicking of Kendall arse after the all star break.

Would it be too terribly

tasteless to add old Robert Mitchum films to the poll?

I've got the entire Winds of War

and War and Remembrance on DVD - this may be a good summer to fill prime time with these.

I expect the season to be over with a record of 81-81 on the nose.

Really? Don't Tempt me...

I won the World Series earlier today, and am just padding Oakland's totals in the Major Leagues in Pinch Hitter 2.

I saw it on the site.

I'm in the first round of the Major Leagues right now. I can't score more than 10,000 in a round where I'm supposed to score 20,000! Ahh! Every once in a while I go back to Pinch Hitter 1 to build up my confidence.

The hell if I know.

I managed to pass that level yesterday

Total luck. I was in the 19,000 range with 2 swings left and all I wanted to do was Jason Kendall the hell out of the ball, just making contact and avoiding outs (Wait, that sounds nothing like Jason Kendall!)...

The World Series was actually easier than getting the 20k, in my opinion. I was afraid they would call for back to back to back homers or something.

Argh!
Back to back homers seriously took like 100 attempts or something. FOR-EVER.

Still stuck on 20K though.

The hell if I know.

Blanton frame should read

"What? You want some of these cupcakes too?"

DiNardo: Hey Kurt, do you eat babies? Suzuki: Yes.

Ha Ha

Missed the game.  I am SHOCKED that cupcakes got into a fight.  I just want to feed him some bacon and tell him everything will be alright.

I NEED a picture of Blanton grabbing his crotch

like a fish needs a bicycle.

Seriously, though. That would make an awesome 'BLANT0WNED' picture. If anybody finds one, let me know.

Maybe a mlb.tv screen grab (no pun intended)
Don't worry, it's only a safety problem.

Does Blanton have

a crotchial region.  I kind of think of him as asexual.

Haren named All Star Starter....

I am just hoping that this is a good thing for him. He has not been as sharp over his last 3 starts as he was earlier in the season. I would hate for him to go in there get hit around and then be messed up for the rest of the year. On the other hand I am very proud that we have the starting pitcher in the game, take that Zito...LOL!! I hope that he does well and regains the awesome form that he had earlier in the season. Go get em Dan we are all rooting for you!!!

There is no A in OFFENSE!!

Haren will be great!

He's grace under pressure, unlike his pal Zito.
