Who kidnapped our ss?
Whoever they are....give em what they want to keep him. I like this new guy so much better.
I could weep for what could have been...
I hope this is where he turns it around.
Crosby has a
multihit game!
first since June!!

Bobby Crosby has another hit
and I need another beer. This is too much.
Tammy Faye Bakker died. :(
She lived near KCMO? Whoa.
Was she still married to Roe Messner?

Curious now...
was she sick?
she had cancer and i think i heard she got down
to 57 lbs

Yes.
I liked getting makeup tips from her.
You're a circus performer too?
Impressive.
Yeah, I'm the elephant.
The one with lipstick?
The one dress up like a clown.
Cust didn't do it.
Solid alibi.
WTF what team am I watching
all these bunts. Here's my theory, Geren knows that BB is reading up on soccer prospects and how to put a team together and has caught him napping meanwhile the A's do what a mediocre/bad hitting team has to do.
did you see bobby crosby laughing at that play at
1st

Why does the A's Fantasy Camp
have a phone sex girl voice-over?
It was more creepy than anything else, really.
But the sexy voice is sandwiched between
Hendu and Steinbach.
Let's just say I'm not feeling very needed..
Busy signal...
I can't get through.
followed by Steinbach
they know how to get me all hot and bothered.
Truly...I kept wondering if it was
costing me a $1.99 a minute to watch it.
I thought Swish was pretty good on TWIB today.
I nearly "teared up" when they played Bill King's call of the 20th win. God that guy was a god.

Regarding Potential AN day in Arlington
The A's will be here on the following dates:
Mon 8/6 7:35
Tue 8/7 7:35
Wed 8/9 7:35
Fri 9/7 7:05
Sat 9/8 7:05
Sun 9/9 2:05
I already have tix for 8/7 and won't be in town on 9/7 and maybe 9/8. Anyone up for Sun 9/9? Or does it need to be a Sat so you can have Sunday to drive back?
I am responsible for 4 marriages and no divorces

Cool! I may be back on the 8th if I don't stop
in Memphis on my way back from Huntsville. My son is going to Space Camp that week and we were going to Graceland on the way back. If I don't go to Memphis, I will be back sometime Sat afternoon.
How far of a drive is it?
5 hours from where I live so probably about 7
hours since you can cut a corner or two.

flights are $49 on SW!
That's like...
a tank of gas for my beast.
Talking about the Ramon+T-Long to Padres
for Kotsay deal. Ray said how happy they were to have Kotsay, and Glen said, "sometimes you have to give up some major league talent...which the A's did in Ramon Hernandez."
Danny caught a break...
especially when Fosse says "it might have been a little bit low"....lol
No kidding.
Crap.
The O's scored, time for Casillas.
and then gave up the 0-2 hit to make up for it
That almost took Danny's head off.
I know the "sell high" theory would say trade
Casilla but we would have one hell of a bullpen if we keep him, Duke and Street. They would be as good as anyone elses and, combined with out starters, we wouldn't need a great offense to compete for a long time.
by ohtobe21likehuston on Jul 21, 2007 8:19 PM PDT up reply actions
Hey, even I'm wavering
(and I brought it up). I love bullpen depth. Street, Duke, Casilla would be mucho sweet.
I honestly believe our offense will accidentally
get better than what it is right now too. I mean 4 runs a game would probaly win the division.
by ohtobe21likehuston on Jul 21, 2007 8:24 PM PDT up reply actions
I was so hoping
for a one pitch out. Come on Casillas....
Why are there only mulitple wife marriages and
not multiple husband marriages? I want equality dammit!!
WHAT???
How can you say we're "sexually lim--"
Yeah.
Well yeah ...
all guys except you of course, Nico. You have that dual ability to please women and ...goats.
Technically
Isn't a situation with 1 man and 0 women the same as an infinity-to-one male-female ratio?
Problem is, most guys would refuse to be #2 or #3
or #4,5,6 etc
Hey we have potential here!
Oakgal, is your husband up for this?
She can't bother him right now because he's
sleeping ;-)

Mark Kotsay
Start hitting grand slams so you have some trade value.
If he hits one here then he'll be gone tomorrow

by chavyizdamn3 on Jul 21, 2007 8:34 PM PDT reply actions
You just freaking knew....
some things never change. Where have you gone Bobby Crosby....
See, that kind of shit won't help his trade value
Kotsay: No value, aging cf. How do you market that?
Same way they market old
worn out horses. Soylent green.
OT: Where do you get your stats
just wondering where people go to get their more obscure stats that you can't get off of mlb.com.
Thanks!
What's really crazy is I figured Kotsay would get
an out, but wanted BoCro to have a chance to do something. That doesn't even seem like a sane thought.
I was thinking the same thing...
but maybe it's better he didn't. May have ruined what little self confidence has been generated tonight.
Not insane
Rather see Crosby make the third out instead of leading off with an out.
Only need five more outs
Lordy, Kotsay is death at the plate
Stewart in for Cust
All doubles defense now playing left field.
I don't love either one.

Does Alan Embree still pitch for the A's?
by ohtobe21likehuston on Jul 21, 2007 8:40 PM PDT up reply actions
with two outs
can we roll the fourth out over into the 9th?
Still want the roll-over
Why should the team in the field be punished simply because there are two outs?
Bring Huston back from the DL right now!
How in the fark
do you walk Jay Payton?
Trade value alert: Embree warming up
(Showcasing players now providing the dynamic tension once provided by a pennant race.)
I would say Embree is "extremely" valuable
to a playoff team. He might bring a decent prospect and it would be good timing when Street returns.

We all have to admit
that Suzuki has been pretty comical behind the plate this past week. Even Ramon Hernandez said the poor kid looked nervous.
Nice job, Santiago Casilla. You're one of the good ones.
It helps explain why Sal Fasano had such
a long career. Catching is tough business.
by ohtobe21likehuston on Jul 21, 2007 8:52 PM PDT up reply actions
I'm actually ecstatic that we didn't start him
in 2008 because our season would have taken a serious hit. This is a better way to make the transition, although it sucks that we suck.
by ohtobe21likehuston on Jul 21, 2007 8:57 PM PDT up reply actions
He do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time
chasing baseballs for a catcher.
Must've gone to the
Bob Uecker school of catching
crosby going for 3 hits
would that be a career high? lol

Yankees get Jose Molina.
Just posting for someone that didn't see.
No, I know

Nick Swisher said he didn't expect to miss more than a game or two with a bruised right shoulder sustained Friday.

He should be dead.
Oh noes
Embree to close out a one-run game
Critical inning for Embree's trade value
A week with 3-4 saves would do wonders for his marketability.
And, yes, I do realize that would require a week with 3-4 leads. And, yes, I do realize that's unlikely.
Huston's back on Monday.
by ohtobe21likehuston on Jul 21, 2007 8:54 PM PDT up reply actions
Showed Cust's shot again...
The ball actually looks like it takes a ballistic trajectory right of his bat.
Thinking happy thoughts here.
Swish!
Isn't dead!
bye the bye...
"Why should we care about Tammy Faye? To me, she highlights the fact that the social foundations of evangelical Christianity as a political movement are tenuous at best. Her ex-husband caused a lot of pain to a lot of people by using organized religion to fuel his obsession with power and money. And yet after all of that, Tammy Faye was able to rehabilitate her own public image and draw attention to the fact that not all evangelical Christians were bigots. She definitely was quirky, but I have to say that I found her to be a sympathetic figure later in her life.
May she rest in peace."
"Tammy Faye has also been known as one of the few evangelical Christians who had the support of the gay community. She was one of the first televangelists to reach out to those with AIDS when it was a little-known and much-feared disease. In return, she told King in July, "When I went -- when we lost everything, it was the gay people that came to my rescue, and I will always love them for that."
there sure are a lot of GM's on AN lately
you all seem to know exactly the trade value of everyone and how their channelsurfing ability endears them to the Devil Rays etc.
Give it a rest.
Cool!
Come on Embree...you can do this.
Comment came up
just after Embree walked the lead-off man
Be a good former A Hernandez...
GIDP
We'll take
that lazy can-of-corn to right
It will have to do.
GIDP for Roberts...please?
This time
we'll have to settle for the K. Nice fastball, Alan
Can't these guys follow
the freaking script?
Not true Athletic material
that's for sure
I wasn't going to watch... decided to come back
I can be so dumb sometimes.
The more Suzuki holds the pitch...
Let the ump make the call, Kurt. Hold it for a moment if you're trying to frame it, but when you start holding it for two seconds you're showing up the ump and he's probably going to be less likely to give you a borderline pitch next time.
Someone needs to tell him to cut that out.
Not to worry...
he's going to be good.
There are way too many things to remember
when the game is going too fast. He'll improve as the season goes but it will be frustrating for a while.

Bobby Who?
I thought 'Zooks had a good offensive game, too.
Piazza does a great interview...
interesting comments. Cust is going to be a regular in the lineup it appears. So is Chavez....I can't believe I'm saying this, but we may end up with at least a winning season.
He was really good in the interview
Nice to have him back. Good bobblehead timing.
KenKo talking about how he like the lineup
tonight and I thought the same thing. Put the struggling hitters down until they prove otherwise. Crosby shouldn't bat any higher than 8th for a while IMO.
