What did Gaudin do to Geren?
Gaudin must have really done something to tick Geren off, seeing how he gets pulled with 2 outs in the 7th and the pen blows the win for him. Gaudin had success against Klesko so far, so why not let him get one more out. I hate the "specialty" pitcher status of some players. Mainly for the fact that it isn't nearly as effective as you think, case in point, hits by Klesko and Bonds, both are whom....LEFTIES.

Pitch count was at 97.
I said it at the time the move was made and it was only reaffirmed by the result. Bob Geren was overmanaging. One of the few times he has done that all year. I realize that Marshall is a Rule V player and must stay on our team all year, but he simply is not quite major league ready yet. I think from here on out he should be used only in the way that the disgruntled and now released WitaSUCK was used - in a mop up roll. However, I want to reiterate that I believe this was simply a case of Geren overmanaging yesterday in this situation. Guadin should have been able to go after Klesko if he got on then MAYBE bring in Marshall or Flores, preferrably a hard thrower as opposed to a lolipopper like Marshall. It was inevitable that Bonds would eat him alive.
Regardless, we won - Go A's!

I agreed even before Marshall gave up the hit
Geren has a very quick hook, much faster than Macha. That's not always a bad thing, of course.

I don't agree on last night
By limiting guys like Gaudin to 100 pitches on nights they are wobbling around anyway and asking for trouble, Geren is able to extend them farther on days they are sharper--plus they will be fresh in the second half of the season when other pitchers are wearing down. Personally, I think Geren picked the right time to pull the plug and chose the right guy to come in.
