I'm done... if someone want's to fill the next about 15 picks, go ahead... the A's probably won't go 50 picks again. (and I'm wrong... figures, considering how many college juniors the A's took.)
By the way, HollywoodOz has done an awesome job nabbing info on everyone at NFTN.
If you want to dig up more info on this, go ahead. I don't have time like in past years, so I'll just throw this up here...

Raiders fans don't like the 8th round pick, we
can't root for the kid of a Bronco.

oooh, awesome--love Mark Schlereth!
If he's anything like his dad, he was born to be an A. He'll hit his 17th surgery before he gets to Sacramento!

so will this be known as the
relievers with a bulldog mentality draft?
by xbhaskarx on Jun 8, 2007 11:51 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
No.
It will be known as the junior college draft.
I think we might see some money spent this time around, because Billy looks to be ignoring the seniors.

Rather, 'college junior'...
..not 'juco'.

African American watch. As an African American
I thought it would be fun to see how many if any the A's picked. So far from pictures, and descriptions, I can only see one possible. Michael Richard from Prairie View. I hope that MLB can somehow increase the visibilty for African Americans, so I can show my kids that it isn't futile to strive for the pros.

as a side note
Dave Winfield said that if the current rate of growth for African-American players in MLB continues, the last one is currently 12 years old.

What does MLB's visability have
to do with striving for the pros? Did you notice who the overall number 1 pick was? Striving for the pros will be rewarded if they are talented enough to make it. If not, it doesn't matter how visable MLB is.
People can bash Joe Morgan all they want about his announcing, but he's as much, or more, to try and keep baseball a viable option in the inner cities.

Kubota
plans on keeping him at SS. For now, he's not a utility infielder as Eric thinks he can make it as a SS.

Longmire
Just wanted to add some more on Nick Longmire-this guy was an absolute stud at the SD high school level, and his stats are comparable to #32 pick Noonan.
Heres the qoute on Noonan: the stats are very similar.
"Regardless of whether Noonan can stay at short or has to move to second because of his arm, his bat will definitely play at the next level. With good instincts and approach, he's got the chance to be an intriguing table-setter come draft time.
Enhanced Scouting Report"
Longmire was like 1-4th in many offensive categories, Noonan was a few ahead of him in everything but stolen bases (I think Noonan had 45 to Longmire's 23)
If we can sign him, this is a tremendous upside pick.
