DLD Digest: The Inaugural Edition (6/6/07)
Do you ever have one of those days where you don't even have enough time to procrastinate (=read the entire DLD)? Do you wish your could have Cate Blanchette read you the DLD aloud while you sip a delicious beverage, preferably somewhere near clear water and blue skies? Well, that sure as shootin' ain't gonna happen, but I've thought up the next best thing...or maybe the 567th next best thing: the DLD Digest, aka DLD for Dummies, DLD in a Nutshell -- you get the idea. So without further ado, her is today's DLD Digest.
BCG celebrated MaEl's birthday with some cool pix and some kind words from Terry Francona. Most of the DLD itself was spent arguing whether it is cool to pick on nerds, with salb918 standing up for the nerds...uh...socially and aesthetically challenged people, and several others playing the part of bullies. Some time was devoted to the question of whether people -- including Canadians -- should stand during the national anthem. Much excitement was generated by the possibility of a feature film based on the Thundercats. Has anything positive been said about Ron Washington in Texas? AN wants to know. There were also far too many pictures of cats. And jubjub's moving back to Boston in time for sal jr's 1st birthday. Are people who say "pellow" and "melk" "batshit insane"? Is A's-BoSox lovin' unnatural? Any questions?

This has potential
Rubin Sierra posted a few DLD analyses last year along these lines, but from more of a deconstructionalist viewpoint, written for the audience who (gasp) literally works during the day and thus hasn't time for this kind of frivolity.
I like your thinking, though. Perhaps, like the DLD itself, we could randomly take turns posting the DLD recap du jour. I already have a Soap narration style in mind.
That can work...
I just read this DLD digest while thinking about the "Soap" theme song. We just need someone walking around who thinks his ventriloquist's dummy is actually alive...

You make it sound like Bob *wasn't* alive...
The DLD Minute
and I am not talking about Rashad
I enjoyed it.
Very good analysis and yes, the Soap theme was playing in my head too.

How are you trying to link images?
I use <$IMG SRC="http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_429717.jpg"$>
Which, when $ signs are removed, becomes:

Don't forget the space between the IMG and the SRC, and the start and end quote marks "" between the html brackets.
Please pardon me if I'm stating the obvious and your problem is something else.

rotoworld
Milton Bradley (calf) was available to pinch-hit Tuesday and could return to the lineup as soon as Wednesday.
has anyone noticed that whenever it says "player X could be back by this date", it never happens?
i hear harden may be back in early may.
Ostensibly
Harden threw again before tonight's game and, according to Marty Lurie, looked good. For whatever that's worth.
