Just a mile and a half from Disneyland, downtown Anaheim should have thrived these past 50 years just from people getting lost and ending up there on the way to and from the park. If only 3 percent of the park’s estimated 14 million yearly visitors somehow stumbled into the central city, more than a thousand people a day would pass the businesses at Broadway and Harbor. And what are those? Two tall bank towers, the public library and a Carl’s Jr. restaurant that looks like it was built during the Kennedy administration and hasn't been remodeled since. The nearby Center Street Promenade offers a few more options—including a small jewelry store and a couple of cafes—but you couldn't spend an afternoon there."

They have the entire police department direct traffic out of the stadium after every single game. Meanwhile an old lady is being held up at gun point at the other end of town.

I have been to a game once, in '02...
...and all I can remember, aside from the A's losing, was the female cheering squad (at least I think that's what they were) that would've be more at home in Miami or even Chavez Ravine.

Anaheim is a turd hole
The only thing of worth in Anaheim is Disneyland, and the dumb ass city is fighting them also!
When they improve transporter technology, can we beam Disneyland up and place it right next to Cisco Field? We would treat that place so much better than those animals would.

My first thought on reading this diary was...
Anaheim has a downtown? I've been there at least two dozen times and I never noticed it. Now I see why he's pissed.
Don't forget Curt Pringle, the current mayor
and the man who hired private security guards to intimidate Latino voters at the poles.

Anaheim is so bad that Disneyland spent millions of dollars to re-construct the 5 freeway maze so that cars could just drive straight into Disneyland and back out, without ever having to see the city. Oh, yeah: and the Angels play there.
What a dillhole.

The Reason That Anaheim Sucks.....
Is because the place has been run by anti-urban planning, John Birch society, right-wing wackos for the past 60 years. My grandmother lived and died there and I used to go all the time and hear all these seniors scream bloody murder about the government and socialized medicine for poor people and then in almost the same breath they would scream bloody murder about cuts to medicare. When you are looking at folks like this as your town elders, it never portends good things as these are the people that vote and helped turn Anaheim, and most of Orange County into the cultural wasteland that it is. It's too bad, because the place was actually founded by German and Polish proto-hippies in the 19th Century looking for a good climate for their free-love utopia. Instead it was overrun by people from the Midwest and South in the 1940's and became a bastion of right wing mentality.
Don't know about the free love
but it was a German immigrant-based group that started the city.
The idea was that every family would be a farming family, self-sufficient in food (bring a cow and some chickens) and sell their surplus to create cash. Land was carefully mapped out in large parcels (but no 160 acres farms, more like 10 acres?)
...and still, everyone in Anaheim grows their own food, don't they...

Seattle is a fun, beautiful city,
Dallas has warm people and good food,
and we all know Oakland has hard-working people who are the best fans in the world...
but what does that sinkhole, Anaheim have?
Think about it this way:
If the United States was a person, the "happy spot" would be Disneyland. What's directly next to the "happiest parts on earth"?
Anaheim is Brown Town.
We're all adults here and I calls 'em like I sees 'em.
Anaheim is the brown town...
but the best fans are St. Louis fans. We can learn a lot from them.
