flA'Shback Video From Action 36 Cable 6

Usually it goes against broadcast etiquette to premiere a video on the web instead of on a television show.  But I wanted to make sure all of Athletics Nation has the chance to enjoy "flA'Shback: Then And Now", which can be found at OnDeckShow.com.

Star-divide

I think it's pretty easy to catch the theme here, it was quite special to put together.  For those of you like me, who grew up at the Coliseum, seeing this video brings back a lot of memories and really ties the generations together.

If you want to enjoy this video in the comfort of your home theater, it will air this Wednesday Night, 6:30p on Action 36 Cable 6, during the On Deck Show pregame broadcast.

thanks, Brodie

I appreciate seeing it here first. Actually I'd be unable to see it on TV since I will be at the game!

Lots of great moments, including quite a few I saw in person...

Aspect Ratio?

Is it my imagination, or is the aspect ratio on the web version of the videos off?  (Looking at the Mark Ellis defense one.)

People's heads look too wide.  Some of the other graphics look about right - for example generated graphics.  But the recorded video looks wrong.

without getting too technical...

you are right, some video might appear out of proportion.

in this 'transition' era of 4x3 to 16x9, analog to digital, and standard to high definition, it's sometimes impossible to avoid considering different video sources.

Aw man?

Can't we put black bars on the sides or bottoms?  I would rather have that than squashed heads.  Really.  I'm a stickler for that. (And sound quality - don't get me started about Real Audio compression.)

Thanks again!

I love the stuff that you're doing, and this is just another fantastic example of your good work.  Being an A's fan, I really appreciate someone providing for the fans all that you do.

Sweet!

thanks again for putting all these videos up. It's awesome to be able to watch them online since I don't live up there.

Is there a way to download the videos to our computers? I put the videos from last year on a DVD, and it would be awesome to be able to do it again after this year. If not, I'll just have to visit the website more often :)

unfortunately, i dont believe so...

the videos used to be windows media and quicktime formats, which were more easily downloaded.  but now the site uses a flash player, and i'm not sure those flash video files are accessible to download anymore.  but on the flipside, the content will be available for quite some time on the site.

Cool thanks for the info!

good to know they'll be there for awhile.

it's possible

but, action 36 offering up flash video is a good thing and i want to support their decision by watching it on their site.  if you want to download, you can do it here.

props to the editors for some good cuts and beats.  i particularly like the segue between the eck and street fist pumps.  chavy's bobble and bare hand catch is great because you can see how amazed he is with himself.  nice montage.

slightly offtopic, but related

Does anyone know where I can get a dvd or a download of the montage of he 72-74 a's that they played before games for the last three years. It was played to the tune of the Who's Real Good Looking Boy....

Also, I tried the link to download the ondeck file, but the only link is the ondeckshow(or whatever it is).com without the relevant links to the video file.
