He continues to play a key role in the development and implementation of Cisco Field, the future home of the A’s.
Considered one of the most progressive and talented executives in the sports industry today, Beane has molded the A’s into a perennial postseason contender since taking over the general manager’s duties on October 17, 1997. Under Beane’s watch, the A’s have compiled 859-661 (.565) record in nine-plus seasons, which is the third best record in the American League and fourth best in all of baseball during that time frame. The A’s have earned a spot in postseason five times in the last seven seasons, winning four American League West titles (2000; 2002-03; 2006) and securing one AL Wild Card spot (2001). Starting with the 2000 season, the A’s have compiled a 698-498 (.584) record, which is the second-best record in the Majors next to the New York Yankees 710-482 (.596) mark.
