Coolest. Gift. Ever.
Ever get a really cool A's-related gift?
Last week was my 26th birthday, and my wife was particularly excited for the gift she got for me. She got me 2 tickets to the A's-Indians game in Cleveland on September 22, including a weekend in Cleveland away from the kids (1-year old twins)! Being in Cincinnati, I rarely get to see the A's, so I'm particularly excited. I also love it because my wife is not a huge baseball fan - she says she's in it for the food!
Anyone ever give you a great A's gift (outside of Frank Thomas)?

I certainly hope so
My first thought was that that'll be in the middle of the pennant race!

Just this morning, actually.
One of my coworkers got me a pair of A's earrings. They are green bottle caps with an old A's logo on them. They are so freakin' tacky. I absolutely love them. :)

Didnt you post a picture of it
a while back? It was a watercolor painting if Im not mistaken. I liked it a lot, tell your artist friend that he/she did a good job. Now if only I could make friends with artists.

Extra Innings Package
My birthday coincides with opening day and my wife subscribes to EI for me every year...and she does not like baseball either.

especially coming from Cincinnati
When I opened it, my wife says, "I know it's Cleveland, but I know you love the A's," to which I replied, "I took a Greyhound from Utah to Oakland (52 hours roundtrip) for an A's game - Cleveland is okay!"

You're not the only one...
And "30 Rock" recently revealed to me a glaring problem in my marriage. I had to explain the line "I'll cut you open like a tauntaun!" to my husband... :(

It's ok to use the heater sometimes, Poppy.
You didn't actually show him what this meant, did you?

An ex-girlfriend of mine
found an A's belt buckle at a garage sale, and made it into a belt for me. I've worn the thing almost every day for the last three years, so I am always showin' A's pride!

you know that might not be a bright idea
in case you might have or be looking for a current girlfriend

My sister used to bake cookies for Bill King and
Lon Simmons back in the 80s when she helped a woman who basically ran her daycare out of the bleachers (remember $2 seats?). She now has her own cookie company, btw. She'd bribe all the security guards and eventually get to the booth, where she bestowed her delicious baked goods on our late great announcer. This is my most memorable A's-related gift.

My wife rules.
Last year, she volunteered to spend four days looking after our 1-year-old solo so I could fly down to Oakland and do opening weekend.
And anyone who has a 1-year-old knows that's an insanely awesome gift.
