I would say this is getting ridiculous, but it's already there.

a's medical staff
should hire walker, texas ranger to deliver the bad news from now on.

Or J.J. Walker

I love the
Walker, Texas Ranger theme song, which is a weird ripoff of "The Eyes of Texas" performed by Chuck Norris.

Interesting scenario...
A's injuries vs. a Chuck Norris roundhouse...
This has gotten so bad, I think even Chuck Norris would pull a hamstring.

Two more for the team record ...
let's go A's!!

Chavy & Buck!
And Cust's hammie is a little suspect...

Wait
I thought we were only two away yesterday? Doesn't this just make us one away?

As I understand ...
the current record is 11, Milty brings us to 10, so it would be one more to tie and to more to set the record ...

Bradley's soft; not willing to play through the
slightest discomfort that athletes feel everyday. I'm looking forward to him being gone come '08.

How are you doing, Robb?
I haven't seen you here in a while. If you could get the petition going... I will DEFINITELY sign it!

how funny....yet sad...
My phone automatically recalls the last text message sent, so when I opened it up just now to send my sister a text message about Bradley, it said "Duke to DL", all I had to do was change the name! It was funny, until I remembered that it wasn't. :(

Not a big loss
Bradley's 51 AB, 6RBI only accounts for 3% of A's offense so far. By the time June comes, we'll have a few more able bodies who wants to play, let him sit. If he can't figure out how to get himself on the field and keep the job, eventually it'll be only his own problem.

I Have a Question--
Can Jack Cust play the OF? Are there some stats on this? Is he as good, say, as Manny Ramirez?
Cuz we got to get DJ off 1B and get Swish there-so that makes DJ the DH and Cust gots to play OF?
?????????
by ChefSeve on May 23, 2007 3:48 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Oh yeah- he is as "good" as Manny

I love Milton
but it seems like he could at least try to fight through it. Maybe it really is killing him, but he is becoming a big albatross.

we gotta save him for the playoffs

He's our Roger Clemens
strictly a part-time player.

THE A'S ARE ALL GOING TO GET INJURED
by walk off bunt on May 23, 2007 3:56 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Lots of really bad OFers--
I recall the Yankees played Berra in the OF-and he drove in more than he gave up--
So why doesn't Geren give Cust any time in the OF?
by ChefSeve on May 23, 2007 3:57 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
He did get some time
I think it was Snelling / Cust / Putnam.

We don't exactly have anyone better to play DH ..
by devo on May 23, 2007 4:36 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I have less of a problem with him going on the DL
than the A's once again sitting on their hands waiting around to make a decision after this theory has failed so many times. Get a healthy body up here in place of an injured one rather than worrying about the additional salary that is incurred. My company uses temporary labor when we are busy even though their production levels are much lower than our experienced staff. As Frank Sinatra says, "that's life!"
The A's are easily the "best" at screwing up in how they handle the DL. A 5-year old could make better decisions by asking "are you hurt?" Player replies "yes I am hurt." 5-year old queries "would you like to take a time out for 15 days unless you are sure that you'll feel better in 5 days." Player answers "it may take more time to feel better so I better take the 15 days." 5-year old makes executive decision to place the player on the DL. Kids can even do the darndest things.

Quick to DL can make sense
if you have a promising replacement waiting.
However, the A's don't. And there are costs, in terms of Options, of moving players to the bigs. So yes, there are downsides to using the DL like that.
(However, it can be useful to have a real replacement in case somebody ELSE gets injured. What's the point of sending the walking wounded out to replace the living dead?)

I have no hope for the A's tonight...
and am considering not even watching.
Which, of course, means they're going to win in a laugher, because baseball likes to eff with your head, man!

i get the surprise effect
when i get back home in the middle of the game.....which to check first, AN and interpret the posts or right to Yahoo sports for the cold hard score, or just let mlbtv appear and find out then?

Billy is a Genius
Come on guys! We all know Beane puts guys on the DL to keep them fresh from July 1 - Sept 30 - How else to you explain the best 2nd Half of baseball from 2000 - 2006.
SO FREAKIN' BRILLIANT!

We should sign Jack Bauer.
He works through the pain, can never die, and is always the best at what he does. Problem is, he works for one horrible-no-good-very-bad day and then takes a lot of time off...

In other news, bobblehead manufacturer ...
... rushes to put little crutches under Milton's shoulders before the Tuesday deadline.

This is ridiculous
Most hamstring pulls are fully recovered in 2-3 weeks. Bradley's case has lasted more than a month.
by lenscrafters on May 23, 2007 4:42 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
The weird thing
Is that Kotsay will likely be back before Bradley will. So assuming Kotsay's back is better and that he can still hit, we should be okay without Milton. This is why we picked up Stewart (who's been awesome, by the way) ... we needed outfield depth and we got it.
