What do you wear at A's games?
Hey, my first diary (you think you know, but you have no idea)!
I was just wondering what special things people wear at the Colisseum. I was thinking about this when suiting up for the second A's v. Giants game with my battle gear which consists of green suede Pumas I only use for A's games and when I coach wrestling (because my team is Green and White), a black Kukui nut necklace like the ones you get from the Hawaiian store, and two green foam Incredible Hulk Fists.
Of course we all have an A's jersey or two, possibly a jacket or a t-shirt from the Majestic store, but I'm talking about the unique stuff. Something Homer Simpson Nacho Hat-esque.
I know baseball fans, much like players, have their own good luck charms and special game rituals that somehow help to influence the game with cosmic juju. What do you do to stew the juju in you?
Also, as a new member I'd kinda like to do the "Where's Waldo" routine and see if I can spot some of your special gameday doodads. Maybe this will up the quota on "What's up, dudes?" before, during and after Oakland games.

Nothing spectacularly unique like Hulk fists.
I had a "lucky" bracelet that broke about a week and a half ago. Not a good sign. :(
Thank heavens you posted it that, Poppy
I thought it was my broken lucky bracelet that led to all this DL stuff...I feel so much better now...and hope our DL is feeling better, too!
i wear these

and a green/gold adidas track jacket with my fidel A's hat (new era brand)

nice kicks
I have a pair of green/white Heely's that I got for free which I've worn to a few games... Only trouble is after a few beers I either a) forget that there's wheels attached to my shoes and nearly fall on my ass when getting up, or b) I get super-confident in my drunken skating ability and nearly fall on my face wheeling through the concourse. One or the other.
I wear a smile.
For a second there, I thought your nickname was Oakland's M*A*S*H, which would have made sense.
For we need one.
Mint julep, anyone?

it's a 30 Rock reference
and when I wear my searsucker suit and straw hat, I always make sure I have a bucket of chicken under each arm and a white goatee.
Gotchya
I'm a Studio 60 man myself, so I guess I'll have an extra hour on Mondays when the fall season starts up!
And I always thought the Colonel was a linen man...

i wanted to like that show
since I loved west wing, but it was always trying to put very serious topics into completely nonserious situations.
I do hear there's another west wing clone show coming next fall.
Thread drift rules!
Another West Wing-type show? Awesome! I awesome it's not a Sorkin one, so is it maybe David E. Kelley?
I've heard loads of great things about "30 Rock" but was never organized enough to keep up. I figured I catch up on the comedic goodness when Season 1 came out on DVD.
Was it Alex Baldwin's character that made the "farmer" comment? I can totally picture the boss/executive saying that, from what little I know of the show.

My favorite show is called
"Oakland A's Baseball..."
I like that one... Except the guy they've got playing "Eric Chavez" doesn't have nearly as much power as the real Eric Chavez, and I think maybe they should get Noah Wyle to play him instead.

I Wear
...my green Cienfuegos Elefantes t-shirt. The team motto, reproduced on the shirt is
"El paso del elefante es lento pero aplastante"
The elephant moves slowly but tramples everything in its path-- or something like that.
Go to:

to view the shirt.

"The pace of the elephant is slow but crushing"
I bought that shirt for a pal one time.

Thanks
...for translating. I was worried that it was something obscene. One of my fondest baseball memories is attending a game in Cienfuegos. The Cuban fans were amazing.

Usually, I rotate my two A's jerseys.
I have a home white jersey with Hudson's name and number from back in the day. It was a gift given to me about 2 weeks before he was traded.
Figuring I was cursed, when I bought my green alternate jersey this offseason, I got a nameless one. I figure it will stand the sands of time (at least for a few years anyways...until we move to Fremont and change our colors to blue and red like everyone else ...please be wrong). Then it will be a throwback.
Sometimes I'll sneak in my free Eck jersey from Eck day a few years back (best AN day ever, btw). And this past weekend I got to wear my "Zero Splash Hits...Four World Titles" shirt.
I usually wear my green n gold A's hat (sized 7 5/8 for perfect comfort)...although sometimes I rock the black alternate A's cap. It's old and a bit smaller though, so I tend to avoid it.
When my hair is bleached blonde (as it is from time to time in the summer), I'll rock the green hair gel when I don't feel like wearing a hat. It's amazing.

I wear a variety of Oakland Oaks garb
A's gear too, of course, but lately I've preferred the (no profit to Wolffish) PCL Oakland Oaks garb. A couple of different shirts, and this hat:

Swisher
jersey, usually. If its cold out I wear a 1973 A's sweater. I have Oakland green flip flops.

ALWAYS the home cap (size 7 1/2),
ALWAYS a pair of white shoes, usually an A's-related or otherwise mostly green or gold shirt, and usually one of my three pairs of green and gold plaid boxers (but never the red ones). My green bandana (that I always keep in my backpack that I always carry around) comes out quite frequently, especially if I'm skipping school or work to go to the game.
Sweatshirts, jackets and pants are more open, and are selected based on the weather.
Generally, I try to minimize red, then I try to maximize green, then gold, then white.

I used to like to wear...
my black satin cocktail dress, back-seamed stockings, 4" heels, and opera gloves, especially when I sat behind the home bullpen...
but then I got hit by the double whammy that Huston Street
#1- has a longtime girlfriend
#2- isn't into drag queens anyway...
And that really broke my heart... until Brandon Buckley latched on to me to drive off those stupid blonde girls that are always stalking him...
But seriously folks... I usually wear a 1976 Pittsburgh Pirates away cap (yellow with black horizontal stripes... you know the one...) because the A's have won the last 5 games I've attended in that cap, and I don't want to jinx them...

What you need to do
is wear the stuff the pirates from the movie Hook wore in their baseball game.
