Nickname Diary - On the Cust Edition
Jack Cust has won over the hearts of Oakland fans and captured the attention of a nation with his penchant for the clutch and the dramatic. His homeruns have sullied the records of opposing clubs and helped Oakland to a dramatic rise in offensive production. He also out-homered the Jason Kendall of the last 3 years in one game. What a stud.
I thought of a few good nicknames in my spare time here in Arizona and I think it's high time that Mr. Cust had an official calling card. What should it be? Please vote and write-in your favorites below.

At the park last night
Someone had hung a banner from the RF bleachers which said "Upper Cust."

How about "Custard Pie"?
A little Zeppelin shout out.

Ken Korach has been calling him
"The Legendary Jack Cust"
and I think I heard him mention that some folks have just been calling him "Babe" (!!!)
I watched the replay of the HR last night and when he got back to the dugout and took his helmet off, I thought "look at that nose - no wonder they call him 'Babe'!!"
I thought the "UPPER CUST" banner was great too, the double entendre works well.
I guess all that being said, I like "General Custer" from the above choices, but would like to see some more before putting it down in ink.

Korach's nickname was channeled through Bill King

It can only be....
"Roy Hobbs," because that's who he is...."The Natural" incarnate....Others: Custzilla. Jack the Ripper. I like The Legendary Jack Cust---just the right touch of irony. I'd shorten it to The Legend! Sweet!

"white lightning" maybe?
That whole movie is ruined for me ever since ESPN BBTN crew did that re-enactment with Peter Gammons as the starry-eyed batboy ...
they did a pretty good job on that one. Now when I watch the movie I just start laughing at that scene.
