Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

Open Game Thread: Game 8 - A's vs. White Sox

Ah, the home opener.  Baseball returns to the sweet green grass of the Coliseum for the first time since October (the preseason stuff doesn't count).  And who better to open the season at home than Rich Harden who is sporting a big fat goose egg for an ERA and a 1-0 record.  You've got to love the early season because you get to see things like a 63.00 ERA.  That's where Jose Contreras ERA stands right now.

While it's true that Contreras will likely lower that into at least the 20s tonight, he does have an ERA over seven against the A's in five starts over the past three years.

The A's send out this lineup to take on Contreras and the White Sox:

Kendall
Stewart
Bradley
Piazza
Chavez
Swisher
Crosby
Buck
Ellis

I still don't like Kendall in the leadoff spot any more, but the A's don't really have a traditional leadoff hitter right now.  I respect what he does behind the dish in calling a game and whatnot, but if he isn't getting on base, he does nothing for our team.

King Richard faces the following White Sox lineup:

Podsednik
Erstad
Konerko
Thome
Dye
Crede
Pierzynski
Cintron
Uribe

How is it that I still can't stomach the mere sight of that punk ass Pierzynski?  It's been years since he yelled boo-yah in Greg Myers face and I still hold a grudge.  Man, I think I need to grow up or something.  Oh and it's gonna be weird to see Erstad in something other than obnoxious red (you know the bright red that borders on nearly orange that those folks from So Cal thinks looks stylish).

LET'S GO A'S!!!!!!  Win that home opener!

Use a proxy server

I got this off of AN:

go to a site like www.publicproxyservers.com or just google "public proxy servers" and go down the list of the anonymous ones.
go to tools ---> internet options ---> lan settings --> set  up proxy  or something like that order for Internet Explorer.
for Firefox, go tools --> options ---> network tab ---> settings ---> manual proxy
copy and paste the public proxy and port in there and try it out.  its trial and error til you find one that works smoothly or at all.  it will probably take you 15-20 minutes, so do so before the game.

Good Luck. Sorry for delayed response.

is as big a moron as was when he pitched.  First, he said there was no question Erstad would get a ball down on the right side.  He's a veteran that knows how to hit.  Nice call Black Jack; the only right side Erstad saw was the right turn to the dugout.  Next, he said Harden didn't want any part of Dye and would go after Crede.  0-2 Black Jack - go back to your no-hit wonder band.

That is fantastic!  Everyone's been pitching him low and away, and as soon as the pitcher left one a little too much over the plate, Buck ripped it to left-center.

The top of lineup is killing us.

.161, .188, .222 batting averages (with OBP not much higher) are really doing this offense in.  I mean, I expect all three to turn it around as its still very early, but if you're looking for an early season goat for the offense there it is.

by SuperBean on Apr 9, 2007 8:40 PM PDT reply actions

It's okay

The offense is just trying to keep Joe Morgan happy. If we did anything fancy like score more than one run at a time or hit home runs, it wouldn't be real baseball.

about Extra innings...

can you pick between the Sox broadcast or the A's broadcast?

by Amnesiac727 on Apr 9, 2007 8:40 PM PDT reply actions

No.

You usually get the home team... unless the home team isn't on FSN, then you get the away teams. Like tonight. A's on Action 36, we get CWS. Or, if both teams are on local channels, you're screwed. There are a few teams (I know the Padres) that are NEVER on EI because of their television deal with their local cable.

You have to buy some kind of digital monthly service, and the cheapest one for Corona, and probably most of Riverside Co. is $44.95.

Here is the home page for Southern California Time Warner cable. Here is the pricing guide for Corona.
