New original A's Song: "Champions" 2007
Hey AN,
Some of you may remember that I posted an original A's song that I recorded last year called "Underdog Revolution." I have since recorded a new A's song for the 2007 team (I'm pretty much ready to release an album of A's songs at this point). The new song is called "Champions" and the A's have told me they will play it in the stadium this year. KICU may also use it for some of their A's montages during broadcasts. Since I currently live in A's exile in Southern California, I'm asking AN readers who hear the song at the Coliseum to please let me know if they hear it. That would be much appreciated.
If you want to listen to the song (and download an MP3), you can check it out at my website:
I've also got "Underdog Revolution" available for purchase on the site as well. So thanks A's fans for all your support. These songs are truly for you.
Go A's!

Great song!
It will be really cool to hear a true A's fan's song played at the Coliseum. I hope they play it often.

actually really impressed
great work! i'd love to hear that in some on-air montages/in-stadium mid-inning breaks.

KICU sounded receptive
Supposedly they're trying to do some montages with it. I'm trying to get the song over to Fox Sports, too. So we'll see. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the feedback!

I like the Underdog Revolution better than this
new effort. But any songwriting impresses me. Love your topic. :-)

The two songs have different styles
Underdog Revolution was too slow for the stadium entertainment folks, which I understood more when I started listening closely to the songs they play at the Coliseum. They're almost all uptempo tunes. But at this rate, I figure by 2016 I'll have enough songs for an A's album. That is, if people are still buying albums at that point.

I see your point.
I guess I just loved that the Underdog Revolution told more of a story than this one does. You did a great job...and I mean no criticism of the new song.

no offense taken
No worries -- I'm really glad you like Underdog Revolution. Music is all subjective, and I have a more personal fondness for UR probably, but Champions I think is better suited for celebrating being at the Coliseum and watching the A's kick butt. To be honest, I was inspired by the AN day game with Bradley's walk-off. I didn't go with AN that day, but I've never been so thrilled by a win before. My voice was hoarse afterwards. I wanted this song to capture that feeling of victory, celebration and confidence.

That song is awesome!
I love the part with Bill King in it. Way to go.

Cool songs ...
good lyrics, you've got some talent.
To catch on, though (at least with people like me), I think you're going to need something more rockin' -- think something you'd want to get drunk and rowdy to. A great example, would be Tessie, by the Dropkick Murphys (a member of whom is good friends with BB, btw) -- it really replicates the feeling that you would get after several pints, in the bleachers, close and late.
I don't mean this at all as a criticism -- they're good songs -- just an observation on the market dynamics of it all.

I think my rowdy days are in the past
Thanks. Now that I'm 30, I think I'm too old to get rowdy anymore. Even my musical tastes have shifted to the super mellow stuff. I'll keep it in mind though. Baseball brings out the testosterone in us all (except when we leave RISP, then the hormone drains from our system like a hole in a dam).

But I'll keep it in mind, maybe have a separate myspA'S page.

WOW!
I went to the site to listen to the song, fully out of morbid curiosity. I was expecting something very amateurish, with poor sound, and a lacking musical track.
Boy was I wrong!
Great song! And I especially loved the part with Bill King!

Bill King is the best
Although when I hear that clip in my song, I instinctively grab for the bottle opener (I've got the Bill King version).
