Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

My completely unredundant A's thoughts that nobody has ever had before

I haven't posted here since last summer, and I thought I'd bring up some points that I need to get out!

  1.  God, I love to beat the Angels.  I love even more to see K-Rod give up the hit that beats him.  It's just soooo...wonderful.  Especially with how excited he gets when he does get a save.  It also seems that his overexuberance has trickled down through the bullpen into the starting rotation.

Star-divide

I saw Scott Shields and Justin Spier get a little TOO excited after getting a strikeout, as well as baboon face John Lackey.  I'm glad the A's pitchers don't do that stuff.  Seeing Alan Embree stroll off the mound after two big strikeouts today, and Huston Street just simply shake Jason Kendall hand after getting a save is a very refreshing contrast.

  1.  Steve Psyhchicoc (whatever) and Rex Hudler are just soooo horrible.  I don't see how any kind of TV station could interview these guys and think, "Ya know, these are just the kind of guys I was looking for, You can just go ahead and tell  Stevie Wonder and Ronnie Milsap that we are no longer considering them for their broadcasting talents."

I also like when the A's bunt, or send the runner and it's considered "Angels-style baseball", as if before Mike Sciosca started managing, baseball players were just neanderthal's shitting on the bases.

  1. I don't know about Bobby Crosby, he swung through some fastballs today that made him look just horrible.  His defense has been shoddy as well, but I hope that's just an abberation.  That said, I'd rather have him out there than Scutaro every day.
  1. Eric Chavez has had some pretty decent at bats so far that have to make you think he's back to form.
  1. Travis Buck seems like he's standing as far away from the plate as possible, and it seems like pitchers consistently pitch him away, and are getting him out.  But, I'm sure A's hitting instructors know more than I do.
  1. Ellis is nails on defense.

The end.

I completely disagree

about the Angels announcers. I've been so pleasantly surprised with them. they offer a really even broadcast and even offer up a lot of compliments to the A's. I'd gladly listen to them over a lot of the opposing teams announcers.

and Travis Buck is over matched at the plate, plain and simple. he's not experienced at hitting major league pitching and skipped AAA so I'm not surprised and didn't expect much else. I've been watching him for years (I'm an ASU fan) and he can flat out hit but I still think he should have gone to AAA first. hope he proves me wrong. :)

Overhearing one of his teammates mention a "rivalry" with the A's, Washburn snorted and said, "How can it be a rivalry when they beat the crap out of us?"

i agree and disagree and completely disagree...

I agree with Emmett about they Angels broadcast team...  they're a couple of tools.  Always have been, always will be.  That's where I disagree with you, Christine.

I completely disagree with both of you about Travis Buck.  For a guy who skipped AAA, he looks good to me.  He'll only get better as the season progresses.

Pumped up pitchers:

I think A's fans (including Fosse in the booth) who get all riled up about the fist-pumping by K-Rod and whoever else on the Angels staff are forgetting the way Eck used to be fired up when he nailed shut a game.  We all loved him then, though no doubt he rubbed others the wrong way.  I applaud Street and others who just go about their business, I'm just saying I can't get too upset seeing a pitcher be fiery when they close out a game or get out of a tight jam.
