K-Rod cheating?
Hey everyone--
Haven't posted in awhile-- been pretty busy... plus... had nothing interesting to say.
ANYWAYS, crossed over this interesting article while reading MLB Trade Rumors tonight-- Derek Zumstag, author of "The Cheater's Guide To Baseball," thinks K-Rod is up to something funny. He has taken notice of his persistent cap touching before every pitch, sliding his thumb on a glob of something under the bill. The link is here

So damn-- this is pretty interesting. Not sure how much this adds, but definitely it could cause some waves considering K-Rod is one of the most dominating young closers in the game.
Well, that's it. Maybe it'll just blow over like the whole Rogers pine tar incident? I really don't remember what happened following the whole smudge scandal.
Also on the agenda... when did our team get replaced with a bunch of lumberjacks?

Also... where are the new 2007 A's commercials? I really enjoy those.
Well, hope everyone is well--

I just wanted to add a new something
to the argument. Many people in support of K-Rod have mentioned that it is likely to be rosin residue from wiping his hat after grabbing the rosin bag. I have conducted my own little experiment, taking a ball cap and a rosin bag. I then proceeded to get as much rosin as possible on my thumb, and then with the rosin on my thumb I wiped the bill of my cap trying to replicate the mark as seen in the photos on the underside of K-Rod’s cap. I could not successfully get a mark like we see on K-Rod’s. So I then wetted my cap a bit to simulate a sweat filled brim to a cap. And again, I had no luck trying to make a similar mark. I must admit though, I wasn’t using an official mlb authentic game cap – so maybe my whole experiment was just a waste of time.

Also,
sweat includes a lot of salt, and various other nutrients (urea too, no?), so the best possible simulation might actually be pissing a bit in a cup with water in it. Hey, that also takes care of your drug testing sim! =-D

Ah hell...
Just piss all over the %#%@ cap. Then it'll be exactly like K-Rod's cap.

Conspiracy Theory
It's the perfect injury. He doesn't have to fake it, or be in a sling, or prove it to anybody.
The league punishes the offender without having the bad P.R. of acknowledging to the public that a player was cheating during the World Series - which he clearly was.

Roger Clemens
A friend of mine thought that Roger Clemens not signing a contract and sitting out until May 1st was MLB's double secret probation for some kind of steroids violation. Pretty nutty, I thought, but I wouldn't put it past the jerks in MLB corporate in New York to do that kind of thing.

no, it's Clemens' way of lasting a season
last time he started in April he was out of gas by the playoffs...
by OaklandSi on Apr 5, 2007 8:41 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, that's what I countered with...
I think it's funny that after 60 years of 1 year/infinitely long contracts, followed by nasty fighting and sporadic peace for 40 years with the players' union and management, wherein players fought for the right to negotiate their own contracts, Clemens now is back to being a gun for hire. His strategy seems to be to sign 1 year deals for tons of money, and some team is going to look real stupid one of these years for throwing $14M at him to finish 1-5 with a 6.30 and hang 'em up in June.

or just like Barry Bonds
in 2005. Faking a knee Injury, so MLB didnt have air the dirty laundry of Bonds failing a drug test.

Yeah -- they look more like wake-n-bakers to me. Esp Swish with that poop-eating grin and Buck with the highlighted Spicoli-ish hair.
I can hate the mullet and love the mullet-ee.

so what if he is?
weren't there issues about Street's positioning on the mound and how that doesn't follow MLB rules?
Cheating is just a part of baseball, and I'm not talking about steroids.
It's like football - there's holding on every play but it doesn't get called. In baseball, I'm sure someone is cheating every inning (stealing signs, watching where the catcher sets up, scuffing the ball, greasing your fingers, etc) but no one's gonna cry about it, except for Scoscia.

and in basketball they get away with fouls ..
.. or it sure looks like it sometimes .. but in K-Rod's case I suspect it is a combo of rosin and sweat ..

but this is something noticed just this year, no?
krod has a career of nothing but success, i don't see why he would blatantly start cheating right now.
and if he was, it's not like he could get that much better than he already is.

have you see the video?
it's blatant that he's going to his cap to rub his thumb on the brim and get some of that substance. and it really doesn't look like rosin. it's very suspicious, and should be investigated. i'd feel the same way if it was Street.

Fouls? That's the least of it!
Basketball hasn't been the same since Magic Johnson made a career out of traveling.

Okay who was watching his every move last night?
So its been admitted that its resin (pine tarry greassy sticky stuff) and not rosin ( gymnast white drying powder). And from watching the game last night this makes sense.
Though interesting enough I think it lead to being quite a "tell" for K-rod. before his slider he didnt do anything out of the ordinary. but for his fastball he would whipe his pitching hand on his leg (to clean it off i suspect?) then he would go to the hat and rub it on his thumb and from there to his fingers. Very sneaky indeed. Is it for grip or for movement? I would have no idea. its meant to look like a cap adjustment thats all baseball ocd stylee but i think he's gotten sloppy and now its just looks like goopin up his hands.
Anyone else notice some consistency with it? Its hard to tell on tv as they change the shot alot. maybe my boy Mikey P noticed and squared right up on it. damn good game
