The throw beat Kotchman by a mile, but Stewart did a prayer throw and it was pretty far off line. Kendall dove and caught him right before he got to the plate.

but for those of you not watching, that was not a good throw.  It was way over the cutoff man's head, and far enough up the 3rd base line that Kendall caught it on the 3B side of the right-handed batter's box.

A good throw would've had Kotchman by 20 feet.  A reasonably fast runner would have scored.

It's Chad's first start in quite some time, and he'll just have to get through the bottom of the order in the next inning. 5 innings, 2 runs would be nothing to scoff at.

is that I'd rather Gaudin occasionally get hit than for him to walk guys. If he can get through 5 innings with 2 runs, it's a great start for someone who hasn't been stretched out as a starter.
