Open Thread: Game 2 - A's at Seattle (cont.)
The A's need to get their hitting shoes on, because a blip in the pitching and fielding has extended Seattle's lead to 4-1 after 5 innings.

but luckily, he was facing the lack of our offense. for at least the first 15 innings of 2007 pretty much any pitcher could put up 6ip 2er against it.

It's not a strict platoon
Geren said as much.
This is the kind of situation (with Kotsay) that Macha turned into a communication problem last year. I think I trust Geren to be clear with Booby and Buck ahead of time about what his plans are for situations like this.

Check out Yahoo! Sports and their scoring summary!
This is their actual stuff I lifted via "copy and paste".
Hilarious. They have the score as "3-1 Oakland" by the way:
===========================================
Top 2nd: Oakland
- N. Swisher hit sacrifice fly to right, B. Kielty scored
Bot 2nd: Seattle
- N. Swisher homered to deep right, R. Ibanez scored
Bot 5th: Seattle
- N. Swisher doubled to right, J. Guillen scored
- N. Swisher singled to center, Y. Betancourt scored
Top 6th: Oakland
- N. Swisher homered to deep left

Gosh I hate this.
It is SO frustrating when you watch your team fight to catch up, they finally do, and in the next half inning the pitchers give it all away. At least give us an inning or two to enjoy the tie! ACK!

On the other hand...
The M's likely came into this series with a vendetta (and quit pissed off)...Last year, we beat them like they stole something. I would imagine that they were a little focused on some payback, especially IFO the home crowd in the season opening series.
Over 162? Well, it will likely be a little different.

random obersvations
does geren look FAR too complacent?
is anyone else thinking ben grieve when watching bobby crosby?
that mike piazza looks like a 39 year old catcher?
that the announcers just finished saying how kielty's batting average was 100 points higher vs lefties than righties last year--and "that's lifetime too--69 points higher lifetime"--and travis buck sits against mateo?
that kendall, ellis, swisher and bradley really looki like they're into the game?
and that crosby, chavez, piazza, stewart look like they're completely uncomfortable?

So is Rey Ordonez in there too as a defensive replacement? I think I got that one right.

I think the important question
Is if we win 82 games this year and everyone's depressed at the end of the season, is the gamethread bitching justified?

just caught the 2-2 pitch...
highlight on BBTN, the pitch to Sexson right before he hit his HR...looked like it crossed the plate at the knees to me. Perfect location...Sexson's proven the past couple games that it's not wise to give him either 4 strikes or 4 outs.
