2 questions for fellow ANers
1st, I was wondering if there was anyway to cheat the MLB ticket blackout restrictions on MLB.com for games like tomorrow. I've tried a number of things but none have seemed to work.
2nd, i was also wondering if anyone has ever seen A's hats in a solid blue color or if they know of a good hat website with some unique A's hats.
Sorry for this boring diary but I've been looking for answers to both these questions for a while and this was a last resort. Anyways, hopefully Blanton picthes well tonight and the bats wake up a little... well, I cant really blame any hitter for yesterdays preformance, hopefully Felix doesn't pitch like tat against us again. I believe were due for a win tonight

solid blue A's caps
Dunno where/if they're available online, but I have a solid navy blue A's cap with the "A's" in white lettering circled by "Oakland Athletics 1968" (IIRC). I bought it a couple years ago at the Coli. The cap is all cotton and has the standard buckle-strap-snap adjustable band.
I believe the cap is a standard MLB-wide model, available for every team in the same format/color.
telegraph avenue
if it exsists, its on telegraph. i recently saw a red hat with the Athletics elephant in black..... yeah it was weird, i bet they have something there

set up a proxy
go to a site like www.publicproxyservers.com or just google "public proxy servers" and go down the list of the anonymous ones.
go to tools ---> internet options ---> lan settings --> set up proxy or something like that order for Internet Explorer.
for Firefox, go tools --> options ---> network tab ---> settings ---> manual proxy
copy and paste the public proxy and port in there and try it out. its trial and error til you find one that works smoothly or at all. it will probably take you 15-20 minutes, so do so before the game.

dude that worked man
Im watching the A's game right now on MLB.com. Hahaha!!! fuck you Selig!!!!
On a side note, do you know whats funny about MLB.com games, is that when the game goes to commerical, it shows this "Pong" type animation. that bounces a ball around the screen hella slow...
Google is thy friend...
At first, I thought it sacrilege to have an A's hat that was not green and gold (I'm looking at you, pink!).
Then I remembered that the A's of long ago wore blue, and did a search for "Philadelphia A's hat". Here are a couple places selling blue A's hats:
http://www.dugout-memories.com/kanat...
http://www.mickeysplace.com/index.ph...
The place to go for vintage hats
is The Cooperstown Ballcap Company. These people make amazing hats -- out of soft, tough wool and genuine horsehide.
They can make any major league hat that has ever been worn, and virtually any minor-league hat. The A's' colors were blue and white in Philadelphia and in KC until the mid-60s, and it looks like there's about 20 blue hats with an "A" on them that you can buy.
Click on the link above, and pick "Athletics" on the "Team" drop-down menu.
Also, check out the Oakland Oaks caps (or, if you're in Sacto, the Solons caps).
Warning: you can waste hours at this site!
I also like
Ebbets Field Flannels, from whom I got this Cuban League replica cap I like a lot.

I just saw this on Cooperstown Ballcap
It's the 1972 USSR amateur team.
Now that is a logo!
BTW, does Ebbets use historically-accurate cuts for their old caps? The pix on the website make it look like all the caps have a modern cut.
Man, that's sweet!
I'm the proud owner of this replica Vladislav Tretiak hockey jersey, which I break out every May Day.
As to "historically accurate cuts" for caps, I'm a bit out of my depth, but Ebbets Field Flannels touts its commitment to authenticity very convincingly.

Oh, and that is a GREAT jersey!
Does it have anything on the back?
Tretiak's #20
White numbering on red back, with the white stripes on the bottom continuing around on the back. No name.

Very Cool
I notice that they also have a couple from the short-lived 1910-11 Central California League (class D) in the East Bay: the Berkeley Clarions and the Alameda Alerts. Pricey, but still tempting.
They are pricey
($44 bucks) but they will last forever, and they're great caps. And I just checked on the Ebbets Field Flanels site about their cap design. Here's what they say:
Well, that ain't Cooperstown Ballcap. Authentic designs, hand-made in wool flanel and horsehide.
(emphasis added)
So, they used a 1950's Indians' hat as their template for every cap they make? What the hell kind of sense does that make?
Ebbetts is cheaper ($25) but I think you get what you pay for. And those Alameda and Berkeley caps on Cooperstown look really cool.
that site...
has been bookmarked...awesome.
You got them there...
I'm pretty sure they use the same paintings they used to print in their old catalog (which I first saw in 1989).
You can see some actual photos in the Cap Photos section.
Lids...
Around here (Fresno), there is a hat store called "Lids" that has A's hats in just about every style you could imagine. Hope that helps.
