Around SBN: NFL Week One: Previews and Predictions for all 15 games

Yay!  We're 1st!  Anybody else worried?

I love our A's, and over the past few years they've followed a pattern.  THey start bad, look horrible, and I lose all hope. Then, just before the break, they start winning, and continue that streak all the way until the playoffs.

I've become accustomed to that pattern.  I cherish it.  It gives me comfort.

But now, our guys are 1st.  And they're doing it with 5 (maybe 6) starters on the DL?!  Is something wrong here?  Doesn't anybody else see it?  Does this mean we're going to stay strong all season long?  Or will we start losing during the break??

AHHHH!!  I don't know what to make of all this winning early in the season!   Anybody else feel this way??  :)

Before the season started

I predicted 86 wins. I'm not changing that. But I never said we wouldn't win the division :-).

Starters + (April & May) = losing

Subs + (April &  May) = winning?

"San Jose A's of Fremont" is already being mocked by Angel's fans

Marty Lurie thinks we'll take an early lead but

.. I wonder if, {actually it does look like}, he wrote that before getting to see the current list of Athletics injuries!

A's Most Stable Team in the West

I am concerned about all the injuries because that is what happened to us last year about this time.  The one hopeful sign I see is that, last year it was (E-Lo and) our bullpen that got put on the shelf - we had a RiverCats Pen which couldn't hold a lead in May.  Although our pen has been shaky, so has the Angels' pen, and both clubs have (on paper) solid pens so I'm not worried about that if the pen stays healthy.

Given the A's M.O., so long as they can control the damage in May - say, not play more than five or six games under .500 in May - they should have a good chance.  That is based on their recent full-season habits of playing strong starting in June and turning it on in the second half. :)

.. the Athletics may be small-market but they have BIG-heart! ..

{addendum} voted the funny 3rd option but ..

.. had there been one like this, I would have voted for it:

So long as the A's bullpen stays healthy, they have a chance.

I think its positive

and once we get healthy we will be really good.  Lets hope swish can get health because he is our best offensive player.
