Soupy Sales

Just to let you know I am from Sacramento.  Occasionaly I get to listen to the A's on KHTK 1140 on the weekends.  That is if the Monarchs, Kings, UCD Davis Football Aggies, and Raiders are not on.
I was listening to the Sunday game and an assistant trainer came out to tend to Bradley.  His name was Soupy Sales.  I thought this was a joke.  Is this Soupy Sales the actor or is this his son?

"Soupy" Sales

If you look at Mr. Sayles (I think that's the spelling) you can tell there is no relation to Soupy.  Very easily, in fact.  :-)

I don't know whether that is actuall his nickname, whether Korach was being funny, or whether he had a brain cramp about Sayles' actually first name.

Yeah, I miss the games on 1240 AM

Instead they gave us this stupid radio station that is a crapshoot to see which Northern California team is going to play (you forgot 1140 AM carries some Warriors games too!). On 1240 AM they would faithfully do the night and weekend games, plus I liked the talk shows (I'm a political lefty) that led up to it instead of these mind-numbing dumb jock-o shows.

You're not insane

I also heard the radio guy (can't remember if it was Korach or Cotroneo) call him Soupy on Sunday.  I think that's just a "joke" aimed at the radio audience segment in the 50+ year old demographic...same as the Gold Bond medicated powder ads.

Soupy Sales

I am 36 and remember Soupy was on a lot of games shows back in the day.

I never recall KHTK 1140 playing any Warriors games. I don't think a station would carry two NBA teams.  I could be wrong.

Thanks for the clairification about Sayles.
