Open Thread: Game 17 - A's at Texas (cont'd)
A's hypermuscular offense coiled, waiting to strike ... just toying with the Rangers, giving them the illusion of safety with their paltry 1-0 deficit.

I just got home and
I am surprised. It looks like Kennedy is pitching ok and it looks like the A's aren't hitting. You never know with these guys.
Okay, I'll ask here
Crazy question:
Does anyone remember the start times for the 4/8/07 Sunday day game against LAA or the 4/15/07 Sunday day game against New York?
I think they were both 12:35 pacific. Can anyone confirm this?
Yes
4/8 was 12:35, 4/15 was 1:05

I wonder if the wave affected
Also, Buck's so tough that he can get a walk even with dumb fans doing the wave.
Wait... Washington? What are you doing!?
Crosby is better against RHP then LHP, and Walker is on deck who can't hit LHP to save his life, but can hit RHP!
In the replay ...
That's one more A
than some of his peers. <cough...Esteban...cough>

yuk yuk yuk...
If they send him and they avoid it,
is it still inevitable? Think about it. OK, now stop.
...or chew.

3 walks each, 7 strikeouts each
What's up with that? :P

the difference is they found a way to
score...we still can't find the way to home plate.

Calero in
He's gone to 3-2 on Kinsler.
Generous strike call on a 3-1 slider to make it 3-2.
He's throwing hangers, too
Dudes need to start hitting spots before it gets ugly.
F8
on a slider for the third out.
And with that, I think I'll have a Sweetwater 420, for a job well done.
Gameday went nuts.
I switched to Audio. It was on Milhouse... then went back to Calero.
Nice job Kiko.
OK we have two chances: Otsuka then Gagne

I'm smarter than the average bear?
I Bet the Angels wish they could ..
.. face sucky pitching at home, every game on their schedule .. but wait, it doesn't work that way! :)
by Randy Bell on Apr 21, 2007 7:50 PM PDT reply actions
yeah they are all excited now
by Vegas A's Fan on Apr 21, 2007 7:51 PM PDT up reply actions
I'll gladly let them win 7-0 games at home if ...
.. they keep having 1-7 road trips! ;-) ...

definition time...
fuckinshitdick (n, v, adj, adv, prep, pro, excl): 1. anything
- whatever you want
Hmm...
Why wouldn't Calero have stayed in? Save his arm by spreading out the pitches?
{unfortunately}, that's baseball! ;-(

Poor Marshall
I kind of wanted to see Gange pitch too, to be honest.
No. Bring it anyway.
Just for the hell of it.
hope we get'em tomorrow and angels lose
.. C'Mon seattle, have some pride, help us out tomorrow! :)

equals last year's total?
I guess im not that mad loosing this game..
considering we absoloutly KILLED them last night.
by iloveoakland on Apr 21, 2007 8:00 PM PDT reply actions
Winning series is what counts ...
.. try to win the rubber game tomorrow! And hope Seattle shows some pride and beats the Angels at least one game ..
by Randy Bell on Apr 21, 2007 8:03 PM PDT up reply actions
That totally sucked, but...
...we still in first place!
by 510Fever on Apr 21, 2007 8:19 PM PDT reply actions
Yeah - here's my {reasonable} hope ..
- A's bounce back tomorrow with Gaudin on the mound, and win the rubber match.
- M's manage to avoid getting swept in Anaheim by winning tomorrow.
by Randy Bell on Apr 21, 2007 8:21 PM PDT up reply actions
Btw has anyone noticed ..
Aside from the A's, in the home games at Anaheim, they haven't faced very good pitching yet. ;-( We faced Contreras, Garland, Buehrle, Jenks, Pettit, Rivera, plus Angels' pitching - in our home games ..
.. as I said, I'll gladly let Angels beat up on mediocre pitching there at home if they keep having 1-7 road trips!
Let't go A's !!!!!!!
by Randy Bell on Apr 21, 2007 8:26 PM PDT up reply actions
Agreed.
I'd hoped last night's explosion of offense would provide a confidence boost that would last for a while, but the green and gold just have to bounce back, play hard tomorrow and try to win this series.
Not sure what the long-term answer is for our hitting slump, but as long as our pitching staff stays healthy, this should be an exciting season.

Huh.
A's record when monkeyball starts a game thread: 0-3
I think we know what needs to be done.
Off with his head! ;-)
.. we'll hire Jack Bauer to take care of him ..

Other than the
Kennedy is Saarloos circa 2005: looking mediocre, baserunners everywhere, perfectly good stats, creating a strong feeling that he can't possibly sustain this level of success for very long.
When Mark Ellis makes an error and Jay Witasick pitches great, it's time to pinch myself and wake up in time for the start of the real game.
Don't forget other strange happenings
Mariano Rivera blowing his last two save opportunities while Armando Benitez succeeds at his! ;-)
