On the bright side,
Thome is even uglier than Kendall
Leadoff triple, we should get a run now......
...oh wait I forgot, it's the A's offense. What the hell Ellis and Kendall? You're major leaguers. Get the friggin ball past the pitcher at least. If I was a member of the A's pitching staff, I would be extremely pissed. This is pathetic.

Would a squeez play be too much to ask
I'm really starting to miss the days of Billy Ball. Billy Martin that is.
I just feel SO bad for our pitchers
I don't think I have ever felt that bad for pitchers before. It would be one thing if they gave up 6 runs a game or something, but they're pitching SO WELL in all of these games and have nothing to show for it! I just want to give them all hugs.
Come on A's! Do something awesome!
yeah definitely
That's gotta be so frustrating.
I feel more horrible for myself.
Seriously. Someone give me a hug.

Even the Royals
would score on a leadoff triple. If Billy Beane I mean bob Garen does not change the lineup tomorrow after this pathetic performance against John Garland who suck ass by the way, then every fire Garen that we hear will be deserved.
by 3Chavy3 on Apr 10, 2007 8:48 PM PDT up reply actions
Everyone keeps saying change the lineup. It is
the same thing as last year, when you have NOONE hitting, moving a hitter batting.200 to the top, and the one batting .100 to the bottom, your not really helping much. If Kendall and Ellis were switched, then the only difference is Kendall grounds out to the pitcher first,

Another great job by Gaudin
(wish he had thrown just one more strike--to second base). We're making a habit of going to the pen in the 6th, but hey...whatever keeps us in contact with the .500 mark!
Now...
if we could just get Tanya Harding convinced that Loaiza is going to skate better than her, we can keep Chad in there all year!
That wouldn't work
The A's would sign Harding to a minor league contract, call her up, she'd swing, but wouldn't make contact, and then go on the DL.
yeah its pathetic
Billy Garen I mean Bob Beane I men Garen should be fired now for keeping Kendall leadoff.

About our offense
by Bleeding the Green and Gold on Apr 10, 2007 8:50 PM PDT up reply actions
maybe we'll get lucky
and win the series against the Yankees...The O's won their first series at Yankee stadium.
you really can't ask for more from our starters
Gaudin is really showing his stuff & can be groomed into a very serviceable 3 or 4 starter IMO. Other teams would kill, just kill to have a guy like him.
The offense, however, is just shameful, beyond shameful for years now. Kendall in particular is laughing all the way to Fort Knox at this point.
SIGH
actually you can...
"Grab a bat boys, it's time to see if ANYONE can hit on this team!!!!"
"Your Sox in charge of this one"
So sayeth the Sox announcers after 'their Sox' have scored one run in six innings.
Yes, this is how far we've fallen.
Ugh. A.J. always brings

On a positive note (heh...)
I love how Geren is far more quick with the pitching changes than Ken "Wait-until-the-lead-is-deader-than-Stephen-Hawking's-legs" Macha.
More like
Ken "wait-until-the-lead-is-deader-than-Ken-Macha" Macha
Ellis and Kendall
should both be apologizing to Gaudin. The only reason he's on the hook for a loss is their ineptitude with the bat.
Their at-bats were so pathetic. Kendall doesn't even swing hard, just flipping the bat out there hoping to make contact. He should be embarrassed at how shallow the outfield plays him. He's making 12 million this year and is lucky to get the ball out of the infield. Show some pride and take a swing at the ball. I just want to ask Ellis how you get jammed on a 3-1 fastball. Utterly awful.

I really, really, really want to just bench Kendall and Stewart, call up Suzuki and Barton, and stick em in the lineup.
what the hell...
i go to brush my teeth and come back and bottom of the inning is already over?

Quick!!!!!
Trade the next three chisox batters for A's players! Its our best chance!!!!!
Damn it Buck!!
Someone needs to get in his face and tell him that one good hit doesn't make the game.
That's a simple play, and once again, shouldn't be tolerated from a major leaguer. He was just jogging.
Would it be too much to ask for Geren to show a little emotion? I thought he was supposed to be different from Macha.

by Rudy on Apr 10, 2007 9:01 PM PDT up reply actions
Buck was playing too far away from the line.
That is where the A's had him. He had NO chance to get to that,
by theblackpearl on Apr 10, 2007 9:02 PM PDT up reply actions
Bullshit
he was jogging after it. The outfielder always has priority over the infielder. Watch the replay - Buck was practically standing right next to Ellis when Ellis missed the ball, and Buck had been jogging.
WGN showed a replay from left field and you could see him jogging the whole way.
by IndianaAsfan on Apr 10, 2007 9:05 PM PDT up reply actions
If YOU watch the replay, he slowed doen when he
saw Ellis, or he would have plowed into him
by theblackpearl on Apr 10, 2007 9:07 PM PDT up reply actions
Call him off
Ellis was slowing down and then saw Buck jogging and re-started.
It's a simple rule - if the outfielder calls for the ball the infielder turns away. If the outfielder says nothing the infielder takes it. Ellis had to run with his back to the infield and try and over the shoulder catch, while Buck has a relatively simple catch.
This is really a no-brainer. Why you're defending Buck is beyond me. The outfielder doesn't have to avoid the infielder, rather vice versa.
by IndianaAsfan on Apr 10, 2007 9:10 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah
I don't know why anyone's blaming Ellis. He was in right field. Coincidentally, that's the position Buck plays.
by walk off bunt on Apr 10, 2007 9:02 PM PDT up reply actions
Yes, but the A's had him shaded more towards
center field. He had a longer run than Ellis

Piazza homers
to tie it in the ninth and then we go 20 innings and have to watch this ugliness all night
Remember the 18-inning game against the Dodgers

Yes, but it was 17 innings.
Maybe if we had a recurrence, Jay Witasick would retire at the end a la Karsay.
Alright
I take every negative thing I said about the Alan Embree signing. I am not worthy.
Also, hahahahahahaha, thanks Scott Podesdnik.
I feel like
now would be a great time to score a couple runs.
Hey, the Sox don't score either in that situation
Great, now the game has turned into a who-sucks-worse sort of affair. Good times, highly entertaining. And did I just actually hear the White Sox sick announcers complain about the umpiring? What a !@#$$ joke.
Since when is MLB hiring bilingual umps?

none of them deserve to bat leadoff

in a row. Next inning looks like the chair is getting thrown off the apartment balcony.
I just got word
That they're changing VORP to VOA, Value Over Athletic. It turns out a replacement player and an Athletic carry the same offensive value.
On the plus side...
...our order is very even from top to bottom.
Each inning presents the opposing pitcher with a similar challenge.
Sorry....that's the best I can do. Honestly, "anemic" is putting it too kindly.

I'm watching the Dodgers/Rockies game too. The Dodgers were winning 1-0 for awhile, then the Rockies tied it up. The Dodgers managed to get out of a bases loaded jam by getting a DP. Now they (the Dodgers) just had 1st and 3rd and 1 out and Russell Martin hit a fly to LF. They're now winning 2-1.
If I'm not going to see either of my favorite teams get a ton of hits, at least one team knows how to bring a guy in from 3rd.
I'm hoping that the A's are going to get a spectacular walk off win.
