The downlow on Spring Training tickets

I'll keep this short and simple, my friends:

Star-divide

I'm going to Spring Training for the first time next week.  To say that I'm excited is an understatement.  Sure I'm bummed that I won't be able to Kotsay, just as I'm bummed that I'll miss Duke's video game challenge (I arrive the day after said challenge), but c'mon, it's Spring Training.  The fact that I'll be there at all makes me smile and smile wide.

Now, however, I've run into a bit of a problem.  I was planning on going online today, scoring the tickets for the games I'll be attending, and leaving it at that.  A quick check of the A's website, though, and I find that the only tickets available are standing room only.  Perhaps it was naive of me to think that quality tickets would still be available at this stage, but, well, I did and now I've been proven wrong.

While I would go with standing room only if that's what I have to do, I figured I'd pop on here and see if anyone who has been to Spring Training before has any advice.  No, I'm not looking for a scalper, I was just curious if people knew if any tickets tend to be released prior to game time.  Should I go ahead and just book some standing room only tickets or should I buy a few tickets off of, say, Stub Hub and have them delivered overnight? (Something I'm loath to do considering the add-on in price, but would consider all the same.  It doesn't help that I fly down to Phoenix on Monday morning.)  Really, if anyone has any feedback at all just let me have it.

Thanks, folks, I appreciate any insight you may have.

SRO...

Standing room only (SRO) is great if you like to drink beer and hang out with your buddies.  Plus at Phoenix Muni there are some benches down the right field line that you can sit on so you won't be standing the entire game.  This also puts you in prime foul ball territory.  Personally, I prefer SRO.

Also, I've never been to a game in Spring Training (this year will be 7th year in a row) in which I could not squeeze into an empty seat or row for that matter.

I'd suggest going with the SRO. It's great. Don't help out the Scalpers or Stubhub.

I agree with Swisher

Paying StubHub or anyone else the ridiculous fees is one thing for a regular season or playoff game, but for ST I'd go for the SRO - unless of course you have a family with kids.  Otherwise, SRO should be fine and by the 3rd or 4th inning you should be able to find some empty seats somewhere.

If you are really desperate for seats there are scalpers outside of Phx muni & most other stadiums - can't say how they are though as I've not used them, but generally I can get tix for no more than face value.  But if this doesn't work out you should be able to get SRO tix the day of the game, as long as you're there early enough.

Yup

Standing room only is the only way to go.  If there are only 2 or 3 of you, you can move right behind home plate once you see who isn't there anyway...but go sit in the bleachers by the A's pen and chill and eavesdrop on whatever they talk about...they'll talk to you, too, if you want...

Absolutely no reason to pay high amounts of money for Spring Training tickets, IMO...

last weekend

I was there and an elderly couple was waiting for tickets to be released (they needed seats out of the sun) and they got their tickets. So waiting for tickets to be released might work.

I've seen guys selling tickets at every game

so you'd probably be fine picking something up at the games..and during the week, the crowds are smaller, too.
You'll have fun, Standing Room or in a seat..
enjoy yourself!

SRO tickets

The standing room areas are pretty good since the whole stadium is small. I just got back from Phoenix and stood for almost every game.
