Open Thread: Spring Training Game 16

Joe Blanton, and his wacky cavalcade of subsequent relievers, takes the mound against the Diamondbacks, trying to get the A's over the .500 mark (not just 7-7, but even with a tie). LET'S GO OAK-LAND!!!

Without Crosby and with exception of Blanton on the mound looks like opening day lineup to me.  No power from Durazo will not help.

Just got back to the hotel...

...dominant impression from this evening -- Travis Buck can really hit.

Is he Joe Buck's bastard son?  Does he have a nickname yet--is midnight cowboy taken?  Might his presence kick Swisher to first and DJ to 3A?

Stay tuned for tomorrow's episode of As the Papa Goes.

Great Weather, Bad Game

We're here in Phoenix through Monday for four straight A's home games. It's no secret how this one went. Big Country Joe didn't have any game, and we were done before he got anybody out. The A's hitters didn't do anything until all the regulars were out as well. No power. No aggressiveness. Bradley's double was the only thing worth noting.

The game feel was there, though. The left field bleachers crew was en force, with drums. Saint and Duke were not there, but I talked to Bobby (Mr. 510) and he will be there through Sunday. The Eric, Eric Chavez chants and others were just as they would be in Oakland. Game time temperature was in the 80s, and many reported heat above 100 earlier in the day. It's expected to be mid-90s for tomorrow's 1:00 start. Hopefully the A's can borrow some of that heat and show more than we saw today.

Some guys-in-green were hassling...

...Lew Wolff as he left the park.  In my book that was more Bush League than Cactus League.

It's hard to figure a purpose that would be well-served by that tactic.

WhooHooo! "cavalcade" used in a sentence!

The writing by so many, esp. Nico, is the best anywhere.

Great stuff, all you posters!

Rename Fremont to Philadelphia, and all's well with the new stadium location.

LOL, thanks.
But you may have missed the great "duct/duck" debate, which would have been especially meaningful to you given your former user name!
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal

I sure did miss that one... I thinK?
I may have seen it without impact.
I get mentally comatose on occasion.

According to some vacationing Nordics, who spoke fantastic English, the toughest time they had was getting distinction about "beer, beard, and bear".

How about "wind" the air movement, and "Here's the wind-up, and the pitch."??
