Hiram BOCACHICA re-signs with A's

Yes, the most newsworthy item of the day on a dull day is that the savior of the A's, Hiram Bocachica has been re-signed by the A's.

USA TODAY is the first to report his re-signing in their daily transactions section.  His being back gives the A's another backup centerfielder available in the A's come up with injuries to one of the outfielders they are already depending upon to play center this year.

One of the A's writers, Melissa Lockard, had previously reported on the MVP Network blog that he was going to take a short look around before considering resigning with the team.  She felt it was a 50-50 chance he would resign a minor league contract.

I for one think his numbers in the minors last year of 19 HR's in about 75 games speak highly of his AAAA talent and indicate he would do okay in the big leagues if he got the opportunity.  Several years ago he excelled in spring training only to come down injured and miss most of the season.  HERES TO YOUR SUCCESS HIRAM.....

Bocachica can't make the team out of ST
Not that he could have anyways. But he still has a chance with all of our injury prone players, namely Kotsay and Bradley. After that, if we don't use Bocachica, we're stuck with Swisher as our CF.

That, or we call up and rush Javier Herrera.

Boca
also flashed some leather last year in Sac, making a few really nice plays, including one that near the end of the season that Tony D labeled the play of the year.

I just don't like the way the Raley Field PA guy sez EE-RAM  BOAK-A-CHEEK-AAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

HERRERA not in shape to start playing yet
He will probably start the season in High A at the highest level he is ready for.  Shame the things that have gone on recently in his life.  I recall his running through a fence in rookie league in Arizona and being out for quite awhile.  Then the drugs snaffu and finally having Tommy John surgery as I recall.

Maybe like Santiago Casillo, he will fail to make the grade before he starts regressing.  Our former Jairo Garcia has lost some velocity off of his fast ball.  Shame.  Talented Dominicans who have their problems in A's system.

And he got an invite to spring training out of the
deal as well according to rotoworld.  But he can not be placed on the major league roster prior to May 1st.  Oh, well, he can't have everything.

Good luck Bocachica in appearing in the A's outfield sometime during the upcoming season.

Sounds Like..
Bocachica will be auditioning for all 31 MLB Teams this Spring Training.  If Bocachica goes off, MAYBE we can package him w/ Jay Witasick to the Florida Marlins (Big MAYBE).  They could use a Center Fielder.

Marlins
Who do you think we could get from the Marlins? They have a lot of talent but most of it is ready for the big time, so they probably don't want to part with it. They're going to be an exciting team this year with a lot of good young players....

From the Marlins?
For Bocachica?

Cash considerations. Maybe a player to be named later.

Someone has to ask:
Who's the 31st team?
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal

The Royals.
Huh. I always thought that baseball's version of a home run is the motherf---ing home run itself. -FJM

I was going to ask too...
but I realized that the Yankee's bench constituted a full-fledge major league baseball team in and of itself.
