Cause Stone cold said so.... DLD 2/10-2/11

Well Sunday is 2/11 and in honor of such, I shall spend the day drinking tall cans of Steel Reserve. Again I do not have very many devastating links, but the Link Dump must be posted or the sun will never set, so without further ado, I bring to you, my DLD number two...

Well on NWA TNA(for those of you who don't follow wrestling, its a professional wrestling league, with a TV show called "The Impact Zone") David Eckstein is going to wrestle A.J pierzynski. Johnny Damon made an appearance on thursdays show you can see here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pWEI1m0VRM&NR.

Wow wrestling and baseball together at last!!!! yep so I dont have much, but at least its up.

Josh Suchon moving on
Josh, who has been the A's beat writer for the Oakland Tribune and related newspapers for the last few years, is making a career move...trading jet travel and Chicago's Frontera Grill for bus rides on Highway 99 and the Burger King in Adelanto (but good luck to him!!)
Finally, a fond farewell to ANG Newspapers baseball writer Josh Suchon, who is following his longtime broadcasting passion and will be the radio play-by-play voice of Class A Modesto for ESPN Radio 970. It won't be surprising to those who know Josh's professional work ethic and love of the game to see him back in the big leagues before long.

wee! DLDs!
I was going to vote for Grady because I love him so... but then I read what I was voting for and decided I didn't want him to possibly get hurt or ruin himself, so I voted for Melhuse... who will obviously own everyone. Plus he doesn't get to play very often so I thought he deserved a chance. Go Melhuse!

And sort of OT: did anyone here happen to go to one (or both) of the long beach state games so far this weekend against UT? I know a lot of people here who live in SoCal are fans (or so it seems)

WOO!! I went to both of them (and I'll hopefully go tomorrow too). Talk about amazing baseball (yes, I'm a bit biased because of the outcomes... but they were just FUN games the whole way through). Back-and-forth game with a come from 3 behind with 2 outs in the 9th walk off last night, and come from SEVEN runs down today/tonight to win it in the 10th (again with 2 outs). I have no voice now.

Er...no.
In this  column, Chicago Sun-Times sportswriter Joe Cowley discusses the prospects for the upcoming White Sox season. He states:

"All eyes will be on Podsednik's groin -- literally."

Uh...speak for yourself, Joe...

I hate it when people do that.
The word 'literally' has a definition, and when people consistently use the word as punctuation for effect, and not as it means, it annoys the hell out of me.

Harden Healthy!
Rich Harden resumed throwing off a mound last week and is completely healthy entering spring training.

Harden threw well after returning from a sprained elbow ligament at the end of last year, so nothing less would have been expected. How long he'll remain healthy is the real issue. He could be a Cy Young contender this year, but he's more likely to throw less than 150 innings than 200+.

I was just watching
the Bulls vs. Suns basketball game on tv right now, and i just happened to see Steve Vucinich sitting in the crowd right behind the Bulls bench (pretty nice seats).  It just gave me a nice/warm feeling inside to see him in Phoenix already, nowing that some players are already there getting ready for the spring to begin.  I CAN'T WAIT!!

I was just watching
game two of the 1983 World Series between the Oriole's and the Phillies.  Pathetic I know, but its been a really long off season and I really really need my baseball fix.

Anyway, a couple of observations.  Cal Ripken was once baby faced and had dark hair.  Who knew?  Pete Rose really was a hard nosed baseball player and Joe Morgan was an exceptionally good ballplayer.  Although he presumably sucked as broadcaster back then too.  Speaking of broadcasters, I remember why my friends and I use to mock Howard Cosell in that way that only pubescent juvenile males can.  He became as annoying as Joe Morgan after only two innings.  Earl Weaver was cool though.

MLB Direct TV Petition

petition?
I think we saw this petition in Friday's DLD....

But upon further review, can someone from AN please write the next petition? One that has correct grammar and actually has information and facts and stuff like that to support the argument?!?!?  Heck, one that has an argument???

There's no crying in baseball!

so picky...
This is the A Exclusive petition. On a side note, I sent this petition to my father who thought MLB was going to move games that went into Extra Innings to DirecTV. As in, they play the first 9 innings on the regular channel and then if it goes into extra innings, they move it over. He thought that was absurd. I agreed.
Signatures? We don't need no stinking signatures.
