There are a lot of tight races and no clear favorites outside of the New York/New York tandem.  Going to be an interesting year.

Excellent choice with Milwaukee
I LOVE the Brew Crew's rotation (even though they traded away DD) and their hitting is underrated.  Also watch out for Yovani Gallardo to make their pitching even better.

I don't see NYY as a clear favorite
In fact, I think Boston is slightly better.  Matsuzaka, Schilling, Beckett, Papelbon, Wakefield...there's some "ifs" there (if Matsuzaka can make the transition from Japan, if Papelbon can make the adjustment from the bullpen)...but that rotation is potentially the best in the league, with apologies to Detroit and no apologies to our divisional rivals.  Ortiz, Ramirez, Drew is a scary middle of the lineup, probably equal to Abreu/A-Rod/Giambi.

Arizona...wide open as that division and entire league is, I can't see that happening, this year anyway

Agree somewhat
I agree that Boston can win the AL East, but if they do New York is pretty much a lock for the Wild Card unless two AL Central teams blow up.  It's hard to believe that the Yankees won't get their 95 wins, as much as I despise the Yankees.  Boston could win 100 or 85, depending on how their pitching works out.  Boston could have the best rotation in baseball if everything clicks for them, but there are a lot of question marks on that team.

robb those are totally ridiculous predictions
really.

five of those six teams probably won't (cubs, twins) or almost certainly won't (rangers, marlins, dodgers) win their divisions.

i hope this is just to stir up some debate and not based on any actual baseball-related evaluation.

finishes ahead of Cleveland, I'll buy Robb a hooker.

Not neccessarily true...
someone once said that there is good in everything.  If that's true, then the beauty of addictive street narcotics is that money is no barrier to temporary love for the extremely ugly.

Lots of money can also be good.  Just look at Randy Johnson.

Robb's picks
Perhaps the worst picks I have ever seen.  1st, Texas seriously regressed with all of the free agent losses that they had.  2nd, Minnesota lost a huge portion of their rotation and are filling them with retreads (they WILL regress).  3rd CHW should be no lower than 3rd and probably 2nd.  4th Cubs still have huge holes, though this one is perhaps the most probable because of the weakness of that division.  4th Philly last and Florida first is just plain crazy.  By all means Philly should be min. 3rd and in some people's minds are 1st based on depth of pitching staff (6 legit starters.)  Also, your seletion of the 83 win champs has to be pure nosalgia.  And need I say more about your WS match up of Tex v. Cubbies.  That has to be the best joke on this site in quite awhile.  IF you truly believe these picks makes me wonder what other fairy tales you believe as well.

Cleveland in last place
They have a better chance at being the best team in the league than finishing in last place.

I seem to recall not only predicting order of finish in another thread, but actually including W-L records too.  This time I'll throw in the Sports Illustrated wrinkle of putting overall team ranking in parentheses next to each team.  Useful because the AL East arguably has 3 of the top 5 teams in the majors; NL West, not so much.

AL East

  1. Boston (1)
  2. NYY (2)
  3. Toronto (6)
  4. Baltimore (24)
  5. Tampa Bay (26)
AL Central
  1. Chicago (3)
  2. Detroit (4)
  3. Cleveland (8)
  4. Minnesota (9)
  5. KC (30)
AL West
  1. LAA (7)
  2. Oakland (11)
  3. Texas (18)
  4. Seattle (22)
NL East
  1. NYM (5)
  2. Atlanta (12)
  3. Florida (13)
  4. Philadelphia (16)
  5. Washington (28)
NL Central
  1. St. Louis (10)
  2. Chicago (14)
  3. Milwaukee (17)
  4. Houston (21)
  5. Pittsburgh (25)
  6. Cincinnati (27)
NL West
  1. LA not of A (15)
  2. San Diego (19)
  3. Arizona (20)
  4. SF (23)
  5. Colorado (29)
Wild Cards: NYY, ATL

WS: Boston over Atlanta

The A's could finish first in the AL West
or last...

Sadly, I think the angels are the odds on favorite.

They have great pitching, a decent lineup and thier defense will be better.

As much as I hate to say it, I think the angels are the best team in the AL.

With that said, an injury or two could propel the A's into the division title.

I like the Phillies in the NL.
