Rebuilding..part of being an A's fan
Didn't we just reload when we shipped off Hudson and Mulder and what do we have left from that? Accepting that we will do this every few years is just part of an A's fans reality. I trust Billy and feel blessed we have a visible owner who actually cares and comes to the games so I can put up with this.
I think Gonzo will make the 25 man. They'll ship off Kotsay to make room (probably only get some pot's and pan's in return though); they'll give Crosby one last chance to live up to his oh so distant promis; they'll pray Buck and Barton develope into solid everyday players; they'll hope Swisher learns to hit to the opposite field when they throw him slop on the outer corner. Anderson is pretty close to major league ready so he was as important as Gonzo in this deal. I'll be there (my seat is next to Sally the bell ringer) for all the bad and occasional good next year. But - they do need to pull the trigger on Blanton now; maybe Street also - get a SS to push/wait for Crosby and more arms. Chavy is still too broken down to get anything

Agreed.
I think he starts the season in Sacramento and then perhaps gets a call-up late in the year, maybe not 'til September, maybe not at all actually.
There's no need to rush him, or make a dent in his MLB service time yet.

I think if he gets called up before September
it may mean that there were major injuries or perhaps some trades and releases in the outfielder corps.

I also agree
I don't think we'll see him until August at the earliest.
I want to see Todd Lindon given a chance in center to finally see what he can do. He was jerked around by the Giants for years and is and hasn't been given a long enough chance in the majors to play up to his abilities yet.

C'mon
The guy had one good season. He's done little or nothing in the majors since.
It's certainly the case that the Giants screwed up his development, but that doesn't make him good now. Dee Brown's development was screwed up by the Royals, but he's still a bench player.
I mean, if you're just in all out "try anybody and see if he sticks" mode, I could see giving him a cup of coffee, but that's about it.

I would hope Kotsay comes out like a house
on fire and a contending team wants him enough to take the remainder of that $7 million salary for any token prospect.
Then Denorfia's career takes off forcing Gonzo to stay at AAA until Sept. call ups.
...works for me.
