Calling for some Keeper League advice
Hello folks,
I joined a Keeper League for next season, my first foray into Keeper League fantasy baseball. I'm fairly current with major league baseball players, but am not as familiar with the minor leagues. The league I joined is having a minor league draft next week, and I'm trying to do a little research before then.
Can anyone out there recommend a good source/sources about the best 2008 minor league prospects? Preferably info that I don't have to subscribe to, but I'd consider it if it was exceptionally useful. The one blog I have checked out is Sickel's minor league blog, which is excellent, but it's also where I found out about the Keeper League, so other sources of info would be helpful.
Thanks.
Oh, and if anyone has any advice for my current roster, I have to trim down to 20 players by tomorrow night, including my minor leaguers and my reserve players.

My advice
Buy low, sell high.
But don't sell while high.

I don't know
If you want prospect info you're going to have to invest some money. At a minimum, I'd suggest buying Sickels' book (25-30 bucks) and buy BA's Prospect Handbook (another 25-30 bucks). Both come out around February, plenty early for you to get up to speed. In the meantime, be careful when it comes to making deals.
You can also go to this site to track your prospects minor league numbers. But numbers without scouting reports won't do you much good. They're running their Top 50 prospects right now, you could check to see if any of your boys show up.

you don't need to buy a book
www.minorleaguebaseball.com
www.baseballamerica.com
MiLB just put out a top 50 prospects list.
BA has top 10 prospect lists for all teams.

My friend's website
http://www.projectprospect.com/ has some good info on minor leaguers. I haven't been to the site in awhile, but I know they have a lot of lists of prospects broken down by team and league and stuff. Hopefully if you didn't find what you were looking for at MiLB.com or Baseball America you can find some info there. :)

when in doubt, keep the proven commodity
grover's list looks decent, but I definitely wouldn't keep a high school pitcher, unless this kid's a consensus top-5 pick in next year's draft or something. I would suggest substituting Floyd or Shealy for that kid...if it was my call I'd take Floyd, who had the potential to be the 4th overall pick in the 2001 draft, but hasn't yet panned out. However, he's only 24.
I'd also look to trade either Papelbon or Nathan for some hitting. Having two elite closers is a luxury for this squad.

He's got till midnight to finalize his list
He'll be able to draft/sign Floyd or Shealy easily enough later if he wants them.
