Ha!
the Brewers announced they had agreed in principle to terms with Kendall, a 33-year-old coming off an uncharacteristically poor offensive year with the A's and Cubs.
He's been in decline for a few years now. It's not as though he went from a .900 OPS to where he is in a year. The writing's on the wall with Kendall.

Uncle Leo!
"HELLOOOOO, Jerry."
Seriously, what does this guy do anymore? He couldn't throw out Rosie O'Donnell in leg irons, he's a horrible hitter, and has zero pop. He's a candidate for early retirement or Japan (if they'd take him). I guess one good thing about him is he can open a serious can of whoopass.

Kendall > Estrada
Estrada had a OBP of .293, IIRC. Also even worse at throwing out runners, very out of shape aka fat too. It was also somewhat of a clubhouse cancer, even during the season many thought. Good riddance for the Brewers...more of addition by subtraction. Sure Kendall is over the hill, but its a 1 year deal and he brings more to the table...he can at least get on base at an ok rate, is one of those "good clubhouse" guys and will surely call a better game than Johnny E. With the Brewers lineup they don't need power from the catcher, just get your but on for the others to hit him in. Just my 2 cents. The Brewers will be happy with this deal by the end of 08' I think. Melvin hasn't made many mistakes as GM for the Brewers.
