10.19.7 Slow Rainy Day DLD
It's icky now, but it looks like the show will go on:
Saturday...Mostly cloudy through early afternoon...then becoming partly sunny. A chance of showers in the morning. Highs in the lower 70s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph in the late morning and afternoon. Chance of rain 40 percent.
Cleveland, Game Six is your best chance. I don't want to see this go seven games, so GO CLEVELAND! GO CARMONA!
As far as baseball news goes, it's pretty much all Torre, and Nico's got that pretty much covered.
As far as A's news goes, it's pretty much all Duchsherer-to-the-rotation speculation, and AsFaninLA's got that pretty much covered. Although, whilst checking in on The Drumbeat, I did learn something that I hadn't known before: Duke was a a former teammate of David Forst! Who knew?
So, as is my wont, I'll just fill this with randomn links from around the internets that catch my eye.
It turns out that Crocodile tears are no myth.
The FAA is going to be hands-off the "ultra-hazardous business" of space tourism.
"We have no jurisdiction in orbit. Going up and coming down, that's us."
'World's smallest radio' unveiled.
And, apparently, cave men could talk. I'd still like to believe they wouldn't participate in nonsensical sitcoms.
Good lord, but it's a slow and rainy day.

Rainy day, dream away
It's a slow rainy day here on the left coast as well.
Links...the best I got is salb918 making what has to be the geeky QOTM over at BTF (non-geeks need not bother).
Wow
Wikipedia:
On September 8, 2007, he announced that he would resign at the end of the season in order to spend more time with his family.[1] On October 19, 2007, Hillman was hired as the manager of the Kansas City Royals.
Evidently he's discovered that his family is actually annoying to be around.
Or...
his family fell through the vortex that sends players to the Field of Dreams and he figured, Kansas City, close enough.
Well they will never make the playoffs, so he
will still have plenty of time with the family.

That's why he chose KC
close enough to visit, far enough not to do it that often.
For those of you on facebook....
The trivia game is a little addicting....

So David Copperfield thinks he's a good magician?
The government can teach him a thing or two about making things disappear.
FBI raids magician David Copperfield in Vegas
Media reports said FBI agents seized nearly $2 million in cash from the building, along with a computer hard drive and a memory chip from a digital camera system during Wednesday's late-night operation.
Caveman speak
That article's just so darn vague. Maybe I'm slow, but I don't see how having a similar language gene proves that they're capable of the same language. As the article says, all sorts of animals have a similar version of the FOXP2 gene.
Anyone in the market for a house?
Sure, it's in Georgia, but I hear the owner is desperate to sell.....
I just hope that theblackpearl notices
that this DLD got even fewer responses than yesterday's, and that he therefore stays unretired.
Oh boy (and girl)!
Um, I think the Earthquakes are going to be less of a distraction to Billy than this:
He has a daughter from a previous marriage ready to go off to college and a wife pregnant with twins -- a boy and a girl, due just before spring training.
I have two daughters
one graduating college and one in 8th grade, and I thought I had a gap!
It was very handy when the older one got her driver's license, though... "Yes, you can drive the car if you take your sister to school" ;)

Yeah and the good thing is
for the first 6th months they are thrilled to do any driving chores that you have. "Could you please run to the store and pick up some garlic?" "YES YES YES!" Then after the thrill wears off...they go back to normal.
