I miss Miguel Tejada and he misses me...or something
Let's look at the facts...
Miguel hates Baltimore.
We hate Crosby
We need a RH bat with a little pop
Sounds like a match made in heaven...
Baltimore appears to be in the same position they have been in over the last decade. They are a team paying a lot of money to lose. Their highest paid player is Tejada who is making about 13 million a year. He also happens to be frustrated with management, and I don't blame him. So how about...
Crosby
DJ
+ 1 or 2 prospects
for
Miguel Tejada (A's pay 9-10 million a year for each year of his remaining salary)
Tejada has about 3 good years left, and hopefully b that point we will have a prospect ready to go (I was hoping for Cliff Pennington but that looks more and more unlikely).
Makes sense to me...how about you?

Donnie Murphy works for me for 2008
How about Clint Barmes? He was pretty good for 1/4 to a 1/2 of a season...and Rockies have Tulo now.... Thoughts?

Right time to buy low?
To me, this winter is the first time that the idea of bringing Tejada back is realistic, considering his declining production and new management, which may the ability to control Angelos.
But do we want to pay the price? He only had 18 homers in over 500 ABs, and his slugging was way down at .442. One has to wonder if he is on the way down at age 31. Of course, we may be buying low is this is just a down year.
Big improvement over Crosby? Of course. But we wouldn't be getting the Tejada we remember. I'd be interested to know what Baltimore would want back.

Tejada's become a defensive liability.
Barmes is an interesting idea, if cheap. Crosby obviously isn't the answer there at any rate.

He's 2nd in the AL in RZR
so I'm unconvinced of this fact.
I guess the real question is, who are the prospects involved? (Also-- DJ is not a need for Baltimore. They've already got Kevin Millar at first base.) If we're talking about Michael Madsen and Richie Robnett, sure. If we're talking about Trevor Cahill and Landon Powell, not so much.

I'm no prospect guru but....
I'd much rather have Madsen than Powell. A starter who vaulted through the system or a fat catcher who keeps getting injured (plus we have Recker one system below?
Of course, like I said, I'm no big prospect guy but still.

The thing is, Powell's a beast of a hitter
I fully expect he'll be a first baseman or DH, but he's got 30 HR power and very rarely strikes out.
In any event, I was just picking out a pitcher and a hitter to make the point.

Tejada deal
I think that Baltimore might be trying to deal Millar too which is why DJ would be a great everday, cheap option for them. I would imagine Baltimore is in the market for a good catching or pitching prospect although I admit that I am not too familiar with their farm system. What I do know is that Ramon Heranandez will not hold up forever and they would probably like to work someone in as the back-up/future option. In my head we would give them a pretty good prospect and an average one. Not two amazing prospects, but one above avg prospect would most definetly be needed. With the Free Agent market so bare, and our need for more than one RH bat, it would be a nice time to bring Miggy back if the price is fair.
P.S. Barmes would be a good option, just as long as he doesn't "fall down the stairs carrying the groceries" like in his rookie year.

Barmes?
We might as well stick with Crosby then. Crosby at the least won ROY; Barmes couldn't even do that.
Yes, I'm being facetious, but Barmes sucks worse than Crosby. Crosby, at least once upon a time, looked like a future star.

they just drafted
the best catching prospect in the last couple of years with the fifth overall pick this year...matt wieters of ga. tech.

there's something in the fine print
that says the A's have to bring back their former MVP's. Reggie, Rickey, and Jose all came back. (Vida and Eck slid under somehow, but I supposed there are different rules for pitchers).
So look for Jason and Miguel to make their way back, shades of their former selves, but good enough to quench the thirst of all nostalgic types.
From a baseball sense, I don't know if Miggy has slipped because (as with Giambi) the game is no longer fun for him or if it's something technical.

You gotta think
that if Tejada comes back he will be beyond ecstatic, the fans will be beyond ecstatic, and if possible Chavez will be ecstatic. Just having Miggy and Chavvy happy should increase their outputs because being happy tends to make people work harder and possibly that's what both are lacking. I don't care so much about the defense so long as Tejada can hit about 20-25 HRs and drive in at the very least 80 runs. Bring him back!

100% Agreement.
Thought Beane should have done it last year....and I think he should this year. It fits. It makes sense. And Tejada would produce here. Absolutely.

Do eet.
I'd say it'd be worth it just to bring the fifteen beat drum solo followed by the chant of "TEJADA!"
