It was two years ago today when I posted my first DLD. Today is a miserably wet, cold rainy day as it was then. Today, like then, offers nothing to give me the A's fix I so desperately crave. There is still little worth linking to. And today, like then, I'm putting little thought or effort into this. Some things never change.
In lieu of gifts, I'll accept deposits into my PayPal account.
So lets take a quick trip 'round the internets and see what we can find.
I almost hate to bring this up again, but Rick Hurd of the Contra Costa Times opines about the firing of the three coaches:
If not, then they deserved the proverbial dinner and gold watch. It may not have made the news any better, but it would've been a classy gesture. More to the point, it would've been good business.
Wow. Not only are the Rivercats the Bricktown champions, they've also been named MiLB.com's Triple-A team of the season. And to think I didn't even know there was such a thing! Congratulations to Tony DeFrancesco, Capt. Merloni, and all the lads!
"By far this is the most memorable season I've had," said DeFrancesco, whose Sacramento teams are 104 games above .500 in the five years he's been at the helm.
Lisa Gray over at the HardBall Times chips in on umpires and umpires baiting players:
Speaking strictly as a mother of young children, I would prefer to suggest to all parties that they try to remember to use good manners at all times, but unfortunately, I know better.
And a tip of the cap to OaklandSi for just now posting this in yesterday's DLD: 2003 Range Rover HSE - Custom Wheels, Eric Chavez, Oakland A's - $34900.
Alas, no baseball tonight.
Dump 'em if you got 'em.
