My First Summer In Oakland To Be
I haven't posted since October, after I visited the Coliseum for the first time and fell head over heels. I've been sort of lurking -- because message boards tend to intimidate me a little, and because I tend to root with my heart rather than my head, which gets me into trouble and/or gets me made fun of sometimes. ANYWAY.
I just wanted to follow up and say: WOOOOOOT. I am indeed moving 1,000 miles -- from my beloved Cardinal Nation (yes that was me, standing outside Busch Stadium on 10/27/06, peeking in through a gap in the gate for the last game of the World Series, wondering once it was over how come I could see my breath because there's no way it could be that cold when I felt so alive) to the only other place I could stand to be during the summer (meaning, a place near my other baseball team). And this is the first time I'll be living closer than 3 hours to a ballpark in my life
I've reserved my moving van, and I'll be cutting it close but arriving just in time for the April 1st exhibition game.
So I've got my exhibition game tickets and my Opening Day tickets (first time ever I'll have seen a ballpark's opening day! Busch being impossible to get into) ... and I may not know yet where I'm living or where I'll be working, but at least the important stuff is taken care of, right?
(I promise to figure the other stuff out before I arrive)
See you at the ballpark!

re: Berkeley
I'm not too worried about the amenities. I live in a town population: 2000, surrounded by farmland, so I'm not used to a lot of choices, lol. I do need to find a place with easy access to public transportation, since I'm not taking my car, but that doesn't seem to be hard.
