So...it's been slow around here lately, although Nebraska's umpire graphs were pretty unique and informative. In other A's news, Crazy (I think it's Krazy) George was on Sportscenter this morning talking about "The Wave." Love it or hate it, The Wave is part of the experience at Colosseum. I was at the gym and didn't have the plug-in head phones so I didn't catch any of the audio...perhaps others could post anything significant.
I, like most of you, think the A's should reconstruct a little more this offseason. They aren't bad, but they may have gotten a little worse or stayed the same while the other teams in the division got better.
I'm starting to wonder if the Beane-counting A's will ever win a championship, or will we always be pretty good but not great? I'm not a big fan of talking puppet Geren, and I'm also starting to wonder if a team can run with a GM who thinks he's God. Why not hire Wash or a seasoned manager who can fire up our slow starters? Not only that, but I think BB thinks the field manager is just a glorified Colosseum employee. I also wonder if BB wants to keep a firm grasp on the purse strings, because it seems like Wolffe & Co are much more willing to spend compared to Schott and Hoffman. A tight budget keeps Billy at his best and his reputation up.
In other A's related news, Wolffe is trying to build another South Bay stadium (this one for soccer, Spartan athletics and general multipurpose use:
What the hell is he thinking? I don't get it. Why soccer? It's not like they have David Beckham (or his used and abused wife) on the team-to-be. Isn't trying to build 1 stadium in Fremont enough?
I know I'm rambling but I think I just have the January blues. I need pitchers, catchers, and lame baseball drills stat!
