A's DFA Rouse

http://sports.myway.com/news/09052006/v0395.html

[b]The Oakland Athletics claimed right-hander Jerome Williams off waivers from the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, though he wasn't scheduled to immediately join the major league roster.

The A's also brought up infielder D'Angelo Jimenez from Triple-A Sacramento, to give them added depth with shortstop Bobby Crosby on the disabled list, and designated right-hander Matt Roney and infielder Mike Rouse for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster.

re
Would have guessed Rouse as one of the first guys up from Sacto, not cut.  Head scratcher.

That's exactly what I thought
when I read that. I wanted to keep him!

Exactly!
He was amazing in his few stints!  Yeah, I know... small sample and all, but give him a chance!

Is somebody making loud noises
at AA & A?

Rouse was AAAA+, that may get him a break and a MLB chance elsewhere. With the A's organization the squeeze was on with talent above him not going anywhere, talent below him pushing for advancement.

With our brittle infielders he really proved his value.

Sad.
I liked Rouse. I was expecting to see the kid up here in Oakland, not Jimenez. Lame. :-(

...Jerome Williams?!

"This must be heaven," he says.
"No. It's Oakland."

I'd rather have Rouse than Jimenez
Hell, sometimes I'd rather have Rouse than Crosby. This makes me sad.

maybe the yankees,

re
I could get with that, if we weren't playing Antonio Perez and Marco Scutaro all the time.

touche
is that a proper use of touche?  where's the mac guy when you need him?

Someday, Williams and Komine
may make a heckuva 1-2 Hawaiian punch.

Rouse might get through
because he is not only truthfully an AAA player, but he hurt his back.

And I think the A's want to make room for Kevin Melillo in AAA for next year.

Great A's logo. Did you try it with yellow and
red in the flames?

Makes me want to order 1000s of them as static cling decals

You would find them almost every where!

re
damn it.  Hindsight is 20/20.  Buck was obviously going to bring Bauer in.  I much prefer DJ vs lefty than Kielty vs righty.  Oh well.  Coin flip, I suppose.

I prefer Kotsay vs. Bauer
to both other options, meeself.

Rouse
I doubt he'll get picked up by any team.  He pretty much useless to any team other than the Oakland A's.

Jimenez v. Rouse
I haven't seen Jimenez play so I can't compare him to Rouse. Does any one who has seen them both play want to explain to me why he is more useful than Rouse?
