DLD 9/24/06 Crosby back for the ALCS?

OK, so my first shot at the DLD.  Sorry, no fancy grey boxes.....

First, "Crash" thinks he might be make if A's make it through the first round:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2600903

Second, Ray-Ray chimes in on "rotation" questions

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2006/09/24/SPGCULBQ231.DTL&type=as

Oh, Alex, just leave the "A's" out of your mouth.  In case you missed this yesterday, Jenkins gives his opinion on Scoot, A-Rod, Manny, and Pavano.....I think we need to write in and ask that SFgate change the title of this commentary....Drumbeat?  Unless you've banged drum in the bleachers, you haven't earned this title....

OK, let's finish this thing today....

Question...
Can someone provide more insight into FOX's stranglehold on Saturdays? I don't get why, or how, they can do it.

Lots and Lots of money
And next year it will be worse.

Fox will have the entire day of Saturday, TBS will have Sunday Morning/Early Afternoon and ESPN will have Sunday Evenings.

So...
So our weekends will solely consist of Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox and Braves?

Thank you, Bud Selig.

groan
the great playoff miss of 2004 followed by the good try of 2005...and 2006...is getting down to it!

I really want to see Theo the Boy Wonder
trade Manny, and make a fool out of himself.

Manny quit on the team? Jenkins coveniently omits the fact that the Rex Sox medical staff has confirmed that Manny does have patellar tendinitis; and like most cases of patellar tendinitis, the best solution is rest.

Maybe Jenkins should look at what Manny's OPS was during the Boston Massacre, and compare Manny's performance with that of, oh say, Bloody Sock.

On Sunday, Minaya ticked off a list of candidates to join the rotation, and for once this season, none of them was Jose Lima.

jenkins is an idiot
as was discussed at length in yesterday's DLD.

i believe manny only has two years left on his contract.  anyone know how much money he is owed?
i wouldn't mind seeing him in the green and gold for a year or two...

Stats aside, Manny isn't exactly ideal. He calls his own shots a little too much. He'd be a headache for sure.

That said, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

he may be a headache
but it's something to think about, as he's asking the red sox for a trade yet again.

crosby...
... do we WANT him to come back for the ALCS, especially if Scutaro at SS helps us GET to the ALCS? Maybe as a pinch hitter, but if we get there, Scooter's our guy unless he had a terrible series.

when/if healthy
crosby is faster and much better defensively.

One estimate is that Crosby
is about 30 runs better per one hundred games defensively. Too high, I'm guessing, but something to think about.

when he's healthy, i'm sure the difference
is quite significant.

Speaking of the ALCS ...
It looks like ALDS tickets are being sold on a game by game basis (you don't have to buy a strip for the whole series).  Does anyone know if this same procedure will hold for the ALCS?  Thanks, I appreciate it.
