HH Admin at His Very Best... Again

From tonight...
Rev Halofan is on it again... typical behavior and not the "that was long ago" BS he was spouting here a short time ago.

The fact that that blog is still on SB reflects neither well on SB nor on Blez' anemic defense of free speech.  Both of which combine to reflect badly on the idea of free speech by left-leaning folk.  HH Chavez remains an embarrassment to SB.  I'm sure more will come through the night and through the weekend from that knuckle-dragging, foul-mouthed loser who, somehow, remains a gleam in the eye of Kos and Blez.  Shame on both of you.  One of you should know better.  The other definitely does.

bad math, you're right.
you are also banned for being a complete asshole. goodbye.

You do know the A's have scored 10 more
runs then the Angels right?
Might want to think about who has the shitty offense.

It was this post
what got him banned.

i never really read halos heaven
until i saw how horrible Rev Halofan really is -- now I read it just to get the perverse joy of how this atrocious quasi-totalitarian can somehow become a leader of Angels discussion.  It's pretty horrifying, but at the same time upsettingly entertaining.

I'm very glad Blez, Nico, Baseballgirl, etc., allow for mostly free discussion here.  It's refreshing, fun and I hope we maintain it.  Even though I'm a leftie, left- and right-leaning folk should applaud that kind of attitude.

Dudes
Just don't go there.  Whether you feel it's fair or not, you're not welcome there.  It's an Angels blog and they don't want to hear the A's perspective.  People go there, stir up shit, make A's fans look bad, get banned, then come here and bitch about it.  Just stay on AN where you'll be happy and welcome.  Simple as that.

It doesn't require 'stirring shit up'
...to get banned over there.

Which is kind of the point we've all been making for so long.

Wanna ban trolls? Fine. But when you ban people for pointing out (with facts) that your grand statement is wrong, that's just low class.

Though I'm not sure how this is a left/right issue.

Not the point
You've gotta let Angels fans have their Angel colored glasses.  They don't want people there telling them that their team sucks this year even if it's true.  Whether you're there to stir up shit or not, you're doing it by not being an Angels fan.  They're there to root for the Angels and I can completely understand them not wanting A's fans posting there.

I Can't...
... understand the banning.

That lack of tolerance is disgusting, and unique to that web site to all of SB Nation.

When a blog moderator roams other blogs bleating that his previous bans "were a long time ago," and then does it again, then that blog demeans SB Nation's half-stated notions of speech.

So long as that moderator and his blog remain on SB, then the entire concept of SB Nation is spoiled.

What was that Jimmy Osmond song? Something about one bad apple not spoiling the whole barrel.  Rev Halo Fan risks that musical truism.

HH's two most frequent posters...
or most well-known ones anyway, "yeswecan" and...the Rev himself, post here, and are welcome to...sure, it may be easier to tolerate them when they are only 2 voices amongst 5,000+ rather than a disproportionate number of AN members over there...but don't you see how his method is backfiring?  If what you say is true, that the blog and especially its administrator just don't want A's fans interfering with their ever-so-insightful commentary on their team, then the methods of the Rev are only making matters worse, as they attract more attention and more curious (and in honor of your handle, in many cases furious) AN members.

Its similar to a hypothetical here...
If Blez were from one insane asylum and posted every diary... while Nico from his 'opposite' insane asylum agreed at every turn. If only we could put those two in st8 jackets then we could have an E-Dictatorship known as Rev's World. (Whats with the Angels Top 100 of all-time, led off with Salmon, ha! Brendan Donnelly is above two HOF's also irks me)

Low class?
Sure. But it's their blog.

It's an Angels blog. Not a general baseblog. If you don't like that, don't go there.

I'm totally in agreeance
With these two and with FuriousGeorge.

It's a fan blog. More importantly, it's THEIR fan blog. To do what with as they please. If they don't want debate on there, if they're there merely to root for the Angels and have a good time, then that's really their perogative. Maybe it'd be more democratic for Rev to let us go over there and show him up, but there's honestly no reason he should HAVE to, and if he did it would probably be to the detriment of his own blog anyway. I mean honestly, why would you want to run an Angels blog where half of your regular audience are A's fans there to berate you? And more importantly, why would Angels fans want to visit this blog at all?

Someone kill me please
A bullet in my brain pan is all I ask.

Blez had heard us and doesn't care that we don't like the guy, as long as Rev doesn't do anything illegal he's going to be given free reign. It's as simple as that.

HH is an Angels website. Forget the whole "community" spiel that Blez has preached at AN since Day 1, that doesn't apply to SB Nation in general and HH in particular. It's intended to be its own isolated enclave and that is the way Blez and Kos and Rev want it. Blez has come out and said as much.

Now, Rev is a hack. The only way the hack will get fired is if his numbers tank. If you visit HH his numbers will not tank.

So don't visit Halos Heaven. If you've been around AN for a while you know the score. Enough with the moral outrage. It's been done and it's gone nowhere.

Why yes. I am a ray of warm and fuzzy sunshine.

How is it trolling...
..to point out that the guy's math is wrong?

Around these parts, you'd get a "oops, you're right... oh well, I'm day-to-day, I guess" for such an action.

I like reading HH
and I like a lot of the posters there. I never talk smack when I go there but I got banned. I think I know why. I think I got banned for a post I made on here for asking Kelly if she was really an A's fan. She kisses Halo butt over there and I mentioned it and I think the Rev didn't like that. That's the only guess I can make for being banned.

But after tonight's game ...I am too elated to even care anymore!

To Everyone Who Goes To HH
You guys remind me of that simpsons episode, where Bart takes the cupcake, gets electrocuted and keeps trying to grab it.  Look, I dislike the Rev too, I think most of the people over there have the IQ of a  3 year old (no offense to 3 year olds) but it is their post. Shame on Blez? nah dude, Shame on you, because this is the kind of crap exactly that we have going on in the real world. People thinking that others community should be exactly like theirs, or atleast resemble it. You dont like it? fine, leave them alone, they obviously like it, and guess what? thats not exactly a bad thing because it is their community.  All the sensible people have now decided that they will stay away, and if you cant stay away, atleast do yourself a favor - dont get an account!  I read HH, but guess what? Im not registered, because I dont want to post something there, I dont plan on ever doing it.

When Blez said we should leave them alone, I was a bit in shock, I disagreed with him at first. THen I realized I got caught up in all this crap about how they dont run the blog like us.  Yes they run it in ways we deem inappropriate, but that is their blog! they let us have ours why cant be let them have theirs? think about that people, please.

Well said
I'm totally with you, I go there and check things out at times but I won't register for an account either, nothing positive would come from it.  Please AN fans, just avoid the urge to post there.  Lets be classy fans, no rubbing it in anyone's face unless you know them personally, and if you know someone personally, don't rub it in over at HH.

To demand change from [or for] the HH blog -- as a whole community -- and from the behavior of the Rev in general just because it does not fit how other SBNation sites are run, is quite frankly intolerant as well (only to a much lesser degree, of course, but nonetheless it's still intolerant)

thank god for revhalofan
i had no idea what rev halofan was but i would always get a kick out that sigline about bill stoneman and the right handed vlad.  then i read up on the whole thing how grover i think it was got banned LAST WINTER.  that was amusing.  now it seems like a bunch of grover copy cats.  it is stupid but also amusing. like you need to get banned over there to prove yourself over at AN.

it is interesting to see kos' name getting thrown around here.  the differenc between kos and most bloggers is that kos has risen to prominence and doesn't have the time or inclination to swat a lowly fly like the rev.

you know...
I remember the last two seasons and what a bitter, nauseating experience it was to see the Angels take the division.

They're no doubt feeling the same way this weekend.  The last thing they want to read is an AN member on their site for any reason whatsoever, even if they're only 'helpfully' correcting their math.  And I understand that, and hopefully everyone here will too.

I believe Kos is being mentioned because he's paying the freight for SB (or, rather, those of us who donate generously to DK are).  It makes you wonder if Kos is aware of some of the more outrageous Rev comments over there, and I'm not talking about his profanity.

The left's commitment to free speech
What exactly does this issue have to do with "the left"?

I really don't want a discussion of this question to highjack this thread, but I do want to note that:

  1. Using the beliefs or actions of one or two individuals as proof that they somehow typify (and indict) the beliefs and actions of an entire group to which the one or two individuals happen to belong is entirely fallacious. It makes no more sense to say that this raises questions about the free speech commitments of the left than to say that it raises questions about the free speech commitments of Northern Californians, men, or A's fans (all three of which are groups to which Blez and Kos belong).
  2. I don't know Blez's politics (and really don't care to), but it seems a stretch to call Kos "left." His political commitments, by his own account, are much more partisan than ideological. Not that this matters (see #1 above).

Rev is great...
especially when the Angels are losing the division. I, for one, love to vouyeristically listen in on the rantings of crazy people (and, living in Oakland, I have lots of opportunities to listen in on the rantings of crazy people).
Rev is harmless and fun to taunt. He is the fanatical blogmaster that makes Athletics Nation seem that much more sophisticated. Let the baby have his bottle and just be glad that you aren't a dedicated Angel's fan who has to deal with him seriously.
