That was actually a tremendous play
by Haren.  He had very little angle to get the ball to 1B, and if he fumbles is, slips, hesitates, or messes up the throw the game is tied.  I'm glad he's 6'5" or whatever he is.

Quick Poll-- Who wants Street in the 9th??
Not me. i want Haren all the way. Morneau's "near-double" was really a Metrodome special. 10 feet to the right and it's a simple DP.

Garza's performance
makes me wonder about the old-fashioned system of letting young pitchers get their feet wet pitching out of the bullpen before getting to start.  Maybe it just helps them go out and throw without getting all hyped up or nervous.

And, come to think of it, the Twins did just this with both Santana and Liriano.  Maybe I'm onto something, here...

Oh. My. God.
Sciambi the PxP guy on ESPN just said that Moneyball is about finding the highest value for your money.  He mentioned the A's picking high schoolers this year because other teams were undervaluing them. Steve Stone agreed and said, "There are no absolutes [in reference to types of players]"  He also is going on to explain that once you've gotten value from a player, you trade him before you lose him so you get more value in exchange for him once he's gotten too expensive.

ESPN probably lets them say this stuff because it's Wednesday afternoon and no one's watching.  I, for one, am pretty stunned.

Well, Sciambi was right, but the reason you
let players go is because you know that you can find players to replace them that are way cheaper. That's where the value proposition is.

what a great outing Haren, pitching is coming back.

Duke for the 9th, what's wrong with street?

I mean, not against duke, just wanna know about street.

Street available
and while Street is my fav. I feel more comfident with Duke

dilemma dilemma
bring out Haren again (looks like he might be tiring), bring in Duke, or bring in Street?

I don't envy Macha's decision, he could be second guessed no matter what.

Danny Haren has pitched a gem, thus far.
We got to get his back and put up some insurance here. I am going to the web and opening the state farm, geiko, and other insurance sites to help the mojo.

Cuddyer 4th up
Morneau 5th.

That's why I want an insurance run or two.

i think they should leave him in
bring in duke if he gets in trouble and up towards 110+.  can't go dusty baker here and blow out our best arm.

he is getting loose.

Korach said Danny was wiggling his arm a little after the Mauer line-out, so better safe than stupid.

I still want Danny for the 9th... he sounds fantastic...  Now KenKo says Street is getting up in the bullpen...

I want Danny...

UNLESS we have a long top of 9th.  Which would also be good if it means runs...

By proving that clutch non-hitting exists.
