Witasick forgot his shoes!?!?

Boy, that was quick. Apparently, the A's made a few roster moves immediately after the game, sending Brad Halsey down to AAA Sacramento.

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-athleticsmoves&prov=ap&type=lgns

Have to assume that this is in order to stretch him out for a start or two later in the month.

Incredibly, the same link above talks about Witasick forgetting to bring his shoes to the park, and being forced to wear Duke's shoes, which were a size too small. This caused his feet to go numb.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but, especially being at home, why on earth aren't there any extra shoes in the A's clubhouse?

Did Macha know about this? If he did, why on earth would he send a guy out coming off a "severe" ankle injury in shoes that could ultimately injure him again?

I love this team, but this year, more then any in the past 25 years, they are really driving me nuts!

how does one forget shoes?
I picture Witasick walking into the locker room with messed up hair, a piece of straw in his mouth, his jeans rolled up to his knees, and no shoes on.  "Let's done play some baseball, hyuck!"

Maybe he just saw Kevin Mench...
...in the Texas dugout, and he figured he'd try the changing shoe size thing...

...of course, Mench would be in the Brewers dugout
...these days.

So much for that explanation!

That explains it
Witasick's shoes must be in Milwaukee.

supposedly Witasick was surprised
he got called up today (he was expecting Friday), and hurriedly got himself together today...forgetting his shoes of all things!

Shoeless Jay Witasick...
Will he be portrayed in a future movie by Ray Liotta wearing a tube top?

This is amazing
No one else has Witasick's shoe size? There are no extra pairs in the clubhouse? Someone couldn't have ran to Foot Locker or Champs before the game to grab him a pair of white shoes? Didn't the visiting clubhouse attendant have to drive to like Martinez or something to get Menudo for Manny Ramirez one time... would shoes be too difficult?

Did he tell anyone besides Duke? Ugh, so many questions.

Pitchers wear different shoes
Pitchers' shoes are different than those worn by position players, with a toe plate on the end.  I think they might be different for lefties and righties too.

He also left his fastball, his command, and his
ability to miss bats.  Who care about the shoes if he finds everything else.  They could have sent someone to Eastmont Mall to get him some damn shoes.  Is that still there?

no, but there's a big athletic
equipment and apparel store very close to the coliseum...it wouldn't have been so hard to send someone to get baseball shoes his size!!

Seriously!!!!
What the heck is wrong with people there?! Why they don't they hire someone at AN to take care of details like this?!

He couldn't have pitched but worse
if barefoot. Too bad they rounded-up his shoes. But he wasn't alone in being ineffective. Obviously Macha knew the game was out of hand and let the good relief pitchers Duke et al rest.
