HH is delusional

I can't wait to see their blog once the A's clinch (I believe the magic number is 24)

Star-divide

Their most recent blog post has their magic number on it (38) despite how they are closer to the 4th place team than the 1st place team. They really need to pull their heads out of the sand.

I think today's game will probably be similar to last night's I'm just glad that Los Kirk was able to keep the line up down because Beckett looked really good. I hope Zito can put together another very good outing, I'm not going to say that him giving up a hit before the 7th will be a dissapointment, but he is on my fantasy roster, and I need the ERA and WHIP boosts

Athletics magic number is actually 23
http://www.magicnumbers.org/magic.php

Since the Athletics and Angels play each other seven more times before the season's end there is plenty of opportunity to shrink the magic number [since each win by the Athletics in those seven games also will be a loss for the Halos, resulting in the MN being lowerd by two].  If you figure that the Athletics will win at least two of those seven games against the Angels, then all that really needs to happen is any combination of 19 wins (or losses) by the Athletics (or Angels) in the games that they do not play against one another.  This is as close to a certainty as it gets without being absolutely certain.

This one is in the bag, folks!

you know, i don't get the sig.
i would probably rather see the bee gee's over the ramones.  the ramones are maybe the most overrated punk band ever.  sorry, just my opinion.  i guess that's why opinions are like a-holes, everyones got one and noone wants to hear 'em.  lol.

no dispute on no. 2, but ...
... "pretty much invented punk"? Lou Reed, Jonathan Richman, David Johanssen, Johnny Thunders, and a host of others say otherwise.

IMN-S-HO, the Ramones aren't even really "punk" -- they were a DIY power-pop band.

To quote Lux Interior: "You ain't no punk, you punk! You wanna talk about the real junk?"

Can I just butt in here
to say that, last week, I got my ticket to see the Avengers next week in Philly.  I've seen Penelope Houston a number of times, but this will be my first chance to see her in an Avengers set.

I missed a chance to see the first or second scAvengers set in 1999 at 924 Gilman (a work conflict I couldn't avoid).  I can't believe my luck in getting to see one of my heros again!

It's not in the bag...
I can't stand you guys talking like this. It makes me think we're going to be eating those words in late September.

All it takes is a hot streak by the Halos and a slump by our guys and this lead is nada.

no, that's not all it would take
it would take one of the biggest collapses in a long time.

It IS in the bag.
If Oakland doesn't win the AL West the team will go down as one of the biggest choke job...and the organization will not live it down until it captures a championship again.  And even then -- after any championship -- it will face the onslaught of criticism all the way leading up to the hypothetical future championship and any future championship runs beyond that hypothetical one.  This team is too good to let a total collapse of this magnitude to have happen to it.

So, you must either stand it (the bravdo and smack-talk) or wear it (the uncertainty that you have due to a lack of faith in this team, perhaps)!

Not really chastizing you...
...and if I was, would it really matter?  I'm just an opinionated idiot on a message board and it shouldn't matter.  I am, however, glad that there are members on the board, such as yourself, that are more even-keeled and more cautious of making such bold predictions.

Do you ever think that THE REV caters his website towards AN?

I would guess that he gets more hits from AN'ers, than he does from HH'ers.

Everyone complains that ESPN ignores the rivalry
between the Angels and A's, the Red and the Green, NorCal V. SoCal - everyone complains that ESPN is all yanksox all the time, but nobody does anything about it - well, i am doing something about it. Stoking the rivalry. That is all.

ISN'T IT GREAT TO BE A PLAYER IN THIS RIVALRY INSTEAD OF THAT TIRED EASTERN SCRIPT?
