Silent Auction

I got this info in a Modesto Nuts (A team for the Colorado Rockies) email newsletter and I thought I'd pass it along to anyone who might be interested...

The Modesto Nuts have partnered with the Stockton Ports to raise money for former Modesto Athletic and Stockton Ports player Jed Morris. Morris, a member of the 2004 California League Champion Modesto A's was diagnosed last week with acute lymphocytic leukemia. The Nuts and the Ports will hold a silent auction at Banner Island Ballpark on Friday, August 25th prior to the game between the two teams. All proceeds for the auction will go to helping the Morris family pay for the medical expenses.

Morris is currently in Jacksonville, FL at the Mayo Clinic undergoing treatment. Both Nuts and Ports fans are encouraged to attend the game on Friday Night at Banner Island Ballpark to help support Jed Morris. Numerous auction items will be up for bid including a Modesto Nuts autographed team ball, a Jermaine Dye autographed game worn Modesto A's jersey and a Tim Hudson autographed Oakland A's jersey. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 PM. Be sure to arrive at the ballpark early to take part in this great event. The Modesto Nuts would like to thank all of their fans for supporting this great cause. We hope to see many of you out at the Nuts - Ports game this Friday as the Nuts continue to try to secure the final California League Playoff spot. Go Nuts!

I watched Jed

play at Nebraska. He was one of my favorite Huskers from those years. He was a part of the Husker teams with Dan Johnson and Shane Komine. I'm sure they'll be sending some support his way from their modest AAA salaries.

Since I'm currently not in a position to be able to attend the game... is there a way I can send a couple bucks Jed's way from here?

You might be able to email someone at the website and they can give you more information. There has to be a way to donate without actually participating in the auction. Sorry I can't be of more help!
